Dani Dyer’s mum feared star would kill herself over terrible heartbreak

Dani Dyer has opened up about a break up that left her so heartbroken her mum feared she'd take her own life.

The Love Island winner, who recently split from boyfriend Jack Fincham , says she was so heartbroken over the split she experienced at age 19 that her weight plummeted to just 7 stone.

Her mum, Jo Mas, was so worried about her taking her own life that she slept in her bed every night to watch her.

Dani, now 23, opened up about the toxic relationship in her new book What Would Dani Do?

In an extract published by The Sun , she said: "I wasn't really eating, I wasn't sleeping very well and I'd lost a lot of weight – I was seven stone and really skinny.

"I had no motivation to do anything. My mum slept with me every single night. She said she hated hearing her daughter cry herself to sleep."

She added: "Mum seriously thought I might take my own life at one point because I couldn't stop crying and was so miserable."

Dani said she used to shut herself in her room and not talk to anyone for days, before eventually going to see a doctor on the advice of her mum.

Dani, whose dad is EastEnders star Danny Dyer, was prescribed antidepressants, which she took for around six months, and saw a therapist.

She said, in hindsight, she knows she was "feeling damaged" after being in "such a long and emotional relationship".

Last week, Jack announced he and Dani had split in an Instagram statement.

He said: "There is no easy way to say this and it isn't going to be an easy time but me and Dani are not in a relationship anymore.

"We will always care a lot for each other and have love for each other and I mean that from the bottom of my heart and I wish her nothing but happiness."

He added: "We have some amazing memories together and have been through a lot but sometimes things aren't meant to be and we really did try to make it work but it unfortunately didn't and that is life.

"That's all I have to say, a break up is hard enough as it is for both of us let alone in the public eye so I hope everyone is considerate and understands this."

Speaking about it on today's Sunday Brunch, Dani said: "Yeah, I'm alright. I think we're as well as we could be. We'll always remain friends."

She also said it was "really tough" to have a relationship in the public eye.

She added: "You sort of go from one thing to another. You're in such a bubble when everything's so perfect and then you come out and you're like, 'Ok, this is it now'.

"I think when you first come out of Love Island you get so much love and everyone loves you and the papers, they're great, and then all of a sudden it's like they turn on you a little bit and then you've got to deal with that."
