Wedding guest SLAMMED for her dress choice: ‘This is rude’

When it comes to weddings, there is an unwritten rule about guests wearing white to the day.

Although it’s an old-fashioned protocol and most brides don’t care, it doesn’t mean that everyone will be okay with it.

When one wedding guest shared an image of the dress she wore to a recent ceremony, people we’re not happy about it.

The anonymous woman had bought and worn a white floral appliqué and shared a photo along with her explanation on Facebook.

“I fell in love with a really nice dress but it’s white”

She wrote: “I have a wedding to attend and I fell in love with a really nice dress but it’s white. It was also on sale for $89 (£67.45) with another 20% off.”

The anonymous guest quickly found people questioning her decision.

One person wrote: “Look I am not super OCD about the white dress thing, my husband’s nana wore white to my wedding, but I find all of this so questionable. It’s pretty well accepted that this is rude.”

Another said: “I mean ‘wearing white’ is one thing but this looks like a wedding dress. Not okay.”

A third fumed: “It’s terribly rude to even consider wearing white to a wedding if it’s not asked of the guests. White is for the bride.

“Girls are so weird about letting another woman shine when it’s their day. Just pick a different colour. It isn’t hard.”

However, not everyone had a problem with the guest’s choice to wear white.

One person said: “Ask the bride. I wouldn’t care if someone wore white to my wedding but other people may find it rude.”

While another wrote: “It’s the most ridiculous rule. No way does a regular dress look like a wedding dress/gown.

“And no way is a basic Jane with a white dress ‘taking away attention away from the bride’.”
