Elizabeth Banks Praises Her Husband Max: ‘We Work Very Well Together’

Max Handelman isn’t just Elizabeth Banks’ business partner at production company Brownstone Productions: He’s also her husband of 15 years. And at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour, the 45-year-old actress reflected on how they complement each other’s strengths.

“We work very, very well together, my husband and I,” Banks told Us Weekly and other reporters during a TCA panel in Pasadena, California, on Monday, February 11, adding that she and Handelman, 45, have “a lot of mutual respect” and a “very good balance.”

She elaborated: “We have a good yin and yang. I’m a passionate artist, and he’s a very even-keeled politician.”

The duo have been a couple ever since they both studied at the University of Pennsylvania. “If I hadn’t gone to Penn, I wouldn’t have him, and then I don’t know if I’d have as successful of a business,” Banks said on Monday.

The Hunger Games alum and the Fantasy Football Matters author wed in 2003 and then welcomed two sons by surrogate: Felix, 7, and Magnus, 6. And all these years later, they’re still finding ways to keep the flame going strong. “The last romantic thing he did for me was, he took the kids to soccer in the rain while I went and got a massage for my birthday,” Banks said on Monday, after turning 45 and celebrating with an animal print-themed dinner in Los Angeles the day prior.

Now the couple is excited about their company producing the upcoming Hulu comedy Shrill, a comedy based on the nonfiction book by Lindy West and starring Saturday Night Live’s Aidy Bryant. On Monday, Banks explained why she enjoys working behind the scenes. “Honestly, it’s about [loving] making a promise to someone,” she said. “I love telling Lindy West, ‘I’m gonna turn your book into a TV show, and it’s gonna star Aidy Bryant.’ I really try to do what I say I’m gonna do, and make it happen.”

Shrill starts streaming on Hulu on March 15.

One of China’s most famous paintings has been brought to life in a stunning 40 foot-long wooden carving.

‘Along the River During the Qingming Festival’, perhaps the best-known scroll painting in Chinese art history, was meticulously engraved on the trunk of a thousand-year-old camphor tree by sculptor Zheng Chunhui.

The classic panoramic painting – dubbed ‘China’s Mona Lisa’ – by imperial artist Zhang Zeduan depicts a flourishing urban life in Bianjing, the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). Bianjing is today’s Kaifeng city in Henan province.

Spanning a length of 5.25 metres (17 feet), the masterpiece illustrates the day-to-day life of more than 1,659 characters and 209 domesticated animals, as well as stunning landscapes and architecture including bridges, shops, food stalls and city walls.

As suggested by the title, the bustling commercial scene takes place during the ‘Qingming Festival’, a grave-sweeping festival that comes in April, 100 days after the winter solstice.

As for Zheng’s intricate carving, billowing willow trees, boats, tiny houses and lively crowds of more than 550 individually carved civilians offer viewers a cinematic and detailed view into the country’s rich heritage and ancient civilisation flowering along the riverbank.

It took Zheng and his team of 35 artists more than four years to complete the piece in 2013, according to Xinhua.

What else do we know about the star whose sister is Absolutely Fabulous actress Julia Sawalha? Let's find out…

Nadia Sawalha, 54, was born in Wandsworth, London, on November 18 1964.

She is best known for playing Annie Palmer in EastEnders from 1997 to 1999.

In 2007, Nadia won Celebrity MasterChef and has since presented a string of shows about cooking, including Saturday Cookbook on ITV Breakfast with chef Mark Sargeant and the short-lived reality programme Instant Restaurant for BBC Two.

Nadia also appeared on Dancing on Ice in 2011 and Celebrity Big Brother in 2015 and was a regular panellist on Loose Women from 1999 to 2002. She returned to the show in October 2013.

Who's Nadia Sawalha's husband Mark Adderley and sister Julia Sawalha?

"I think we tacitly agreed to put it to one side. I was really hurt, it was really difficult, but it's like I was saying about friendships: you have to be able to stand back.

"She'd just met (partner) Mark and had (daughter) Maddy… she was totally absorbed in her world. There wasn't room for me at that time, and you have to accept that."

Nadia also opened up about the "feud" in 2016 saying "It's so bad, but it was all about me. I started to get insecure about whether I was enough as a friend."

Priyanka Chopra Just Made A Huge Update On Instagram Showing Her Dedication To Nick Jonas

It’s official: You can now call her "Priyanka Chopra Jonas," well, at least on Instagram. Priyanka Chopra added "Jonas" to her Instagram name, as JustJared.com pointed out on Thursday. It’s been a longtime tradition for a woman to take her husband’s last name during marriage, or to at least add his surname to her already existing family name. Changing one’s name after getting married is a personal choice and one that Chopra seems to be embracing wholeheartedly. More than anything, the major Instagram update shows how committed the former Quantico star is to both Nick Jonas and their marriage.

It’s unclear if Chopra legally changed her name to "Priyanka Chopra Jonas" or if she simply added "Jonas" on Instagram. So far, she hasn’t added "Jonas" to her name on Facebook and the same goes for Twitter. The 36-year-old also hasn’t made it clear if she wants to be called "Priyanka Chopra" or "Priyanka Chopra Jonas." At this time, the Baywatch actor hasn’t made any comment about the name addition, but there’s no denying it’s just another way of Chopra showing her hardcore love for Jonas.

Over the weekend of Dec. 1, Chopra and Jonas officially tied the knot. They had two ceremonies that embraced both of their cultures. As reported by People, the first ceremony took place on Dec. 1 and it was a Western style wedding at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India, which Paul Kevin Jonas Sr. officiated. The second nuptials occurred on Dec. 2 during a Hindu ceremony at the same palace. They have been extremely open with their special day by sharing many photos and videos, including one giving a glimpse of their first dance.

The actor and the singer both appear to be on cloud nine right now after their whirlwind of an engagement and wedding. They are even welcoming the new nicknames they can now call one another. Not only did Chopra add "Jonas" to her Instagram name, but, on Dec. 6, Jonas called Chopra "Wifey" on Instagram.

On Thursday, Chopra appeared on Vogue‘s newest cover for January. Actually, she’s the first Indian woman to cover American Vogue in the magazine’s 126-year history. That’s a huge deal and one both she and Jonas are proud of.

Clearly, the former Jonas Brothers singer couldn’t contain his excitement, because after Chopra shared her cover on Instagram, he commented on her post, "Wifey."

It might be hard for people to believe that they share a geunine love for one another, especially since they moved faster than the average relationship. But, Jonas and Chopra seem beyond happy with each other and in their decision to marry.

It almost seems like Chopra knew Jonas was the one, too. As she recalled to Vogue, while on a date with the singer in Los Angeles, he said to her, "I love the way you look at the world. I love the drive you have." Chopra told the magazine, "As a girl, I’ve never had a guy tell me, ‘I like your ambition.’ It’s always been the opposite."

And now here they are expressing their intense love for each other. Between Chopra adding "Jonas" to her name on Instagram to Jonas calling her "Wifey," it’s safe to say these two are living married life to the fullest.
