Ben Higgins Says the Woman He’s Dating Is Not From ‘The Bachelor’

Ben Higgins says the new woman in his life isn’t from Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor. In fact, he tells fans she’s not from any season of the ABC hit.

After announcing he was dating someone new in the January 14 episode of his and Ashley Iaconetti’s podcast “Almost Famous,” Opens a New Window. the former Bachelor star had to clarify that he’s withholding the woman’s name only out of privacy concerns, not because she’s a contestant on the current season of the show.

“She’s not from Colton’s season,” the 29-year-old said during the podcast’s January 21 episode. “Not at all. Not from the show.”

The Indiana native, who broke up with Bachelor winner Lauren Bushnell in May 2017, added that he’s trying to keep his love life under wraps for now. “I’m not hiding anything,” he said. “I think you go through public relationships before and you kind of deal with that pressure. And there’s the right timing to it all, to kind of make it a thing and publicly put it out there.”

Higgins hasn’t offered many clues about his mystery woman — saying only that she’s the “best, purest person” he knows and that they’re currently dating long-distance — but fans seem certain he’s dating a Nashville resident named Jessica Clarke.

“Apparently the story was that Jessica and Ben had briefly met at a bar in Nashville a while back and she kind of forgot about it/he didn’t seem interested at the time,” one Reddit user claimed Opens a New Window. last week. “A couple months later he slid into her dms saying something along the lines of ‘I just saw a photo of you pop up on my explore feed and remember meeting you in Nashville. I never dm girls but I figured I’d be stupid to pass up a second chance at getting to talk to you.’”

Before starring in The Bachelor season 20 in 2016, Higgins vied for Kaitlyn Bristowe’s heart on The Bachelorette season 11 in 2015. He also starred in the spinoff Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After? in 2016 and appeared in the competition show Bachelor Winter Games in 2018.

Jayme Closs’ relative was ‘not prepared’ for horrifying murder details

‘I wanted to know. I had to know — to give myself some closure’: Jayme Closs’ relative says she was ‘not prepared’ to learn horrifying details of the murder-kidnapping

  • Jodie Arnold, the cousin of Jayme’s mother Denise Closs, spoke out as details continue to emerge about the night of October 15, 2018
  • Jake Thomas Patterson, 21, has allegedly confessed to the killings of Denise and James Closs and the kidnapping of their 13-year-old daughter
  • Arnold said she was horrified to learn that Denise spent her final moment in fear
  • She said: ‘I wanted to know. I had to know — to give myself some closure’

As new details continue to emerge in the gruesome kidnapping of Jayme Closs, a relative of the 13-year-old says she was ‘not prepared’ to learn the truth.

Countless questions weighed on Jodie Arnold’s mind in the months after the bodies of Denise, her cousin, and James Closs were found shot to death and their daughter went missing on October 15, 2018 in Barron, Wisconsin.

Now that Jayme has returned home and her alleged captor, 21-year-old Jake Thomas Patterson, is behind bars, Arnold is finding that the reality is far worse than she could have imagined.

‘I was not prepared,’ she told People.

As new details continue to emerge in the gruesome kidnapping of Jayme Closs, a relative of the 13-year-old’s mother Denise Closs (left) has said she was ‘not prepared’ to learn the truth. Jodie Arnold spent the almost-three months that Jayme was missing wondering what had occurred on the night of October 15, when Denise and her husband James (right) were found shot dead at their home, and their daughter was nowhere to be found. Now that Jayme has returned home and her alleged captor is behind bars, those questions are being answered

Jayme finally returned home to Barron, Wisconsin, after escaping from her captor’s lair on January 10, nearly three months after she witnessed her parents’ murder before being abducted in a case that gripped the nation. Pictured with relatives after her rescue, Jayme is recovering from the traumatic abduction and will live permanently with her aunt in Barron

Jake Thomas Patterson, 21, was arrested on January 10 and has confessed to the murders and kidnapping. He is seen above during his first court appearance on Monday

The criminal complaint filed against Patterson details his confession to cops that he decided Jayme was ‘the girl he was going to take’ after a change sighting of her getting on the school bus when it stopped in front of him as he drove to work.

On the night of October 15, he stole his father’s shotgun, donned a balaclava face mask and two pairs of gloves and drove to the home to carry out his plan.

As he approached the front door under cover of darkness, Patterson saw Jayme’s father, James, standing in the large window.

Jayme told detectives that she had been woken by her dog Molly barking and noticed somebody coming up the driveway when she went to investigate.

She woke her parents and her father ‘went to the door to see what was going on.’

Patterson claimed that he yelled at James Closs to get on the ground but that he ‘kept shining a flashlight and looking outside’ while pounding on the door. Peering through the window, James Closs asked to see his badge – assuming he was law enforcement.

In that moment, Patterson said, he raised his shotgun, pointed it at James Closs’ head and pulled the trigger. James is described in the complaint as having ‘significant trauma to his face and head.’

After hearing the gunshots, Denise Closs called the police and took her daughter into the bathroom to hide.

Arnold said she had long hoped that her cousin’s death was quick, perhaps while she was sleeping.

She was horrified to learn that the 46-year-old spent her final moments in undeniable terror as she prayed that she and her daughter wouldn’t be discovered.

Patterson allegedly told investigators that he decided Jayme was ‘the girl he was going to take’ after a change sighting of her getting on the school bus when it stopped in front of him as he drove to work. On the night of October 15, he stole his father’s shotgun, donned a balaclava face mask and two pairs of gloves and drove to the home (above) to carry out his plan.

A massive manhunt was launched after police arrived at the Closs home four minutes after Denise called 911 and found the Jayme had disappeared

In a terrifying scene, Patterson shoved the bathroom door open and tore down the shower curtain, taking the rod with it and found Denise ‘with her arms wrapped around Jayme in a bear hug’.

Patterson told Denise to place black duct tape over her daughter’s mouth but when she ‘struggled to do that’ he put down his shotgun, took back the tape and wrapped it around Jayme’s mouth and head.

He made the teen stand up while he ‘took and placed [tape] around her wrists, with her palms together to restrain her hands and arms.’

Patterson then taped her ankles, removed her from the tub and, as she stood beside him, he took aim at her mother’s head and pulled the trigger.

‘Denise’s last thoughts were probably: “My daughter is next,”‘ Arnold said. ‘It makes me so heartbroken. It just wrecks me…

‘When somebody dies, it just feels a million times worse when their last thoughts are of utter despair and terror. I had been hoping it had happened so fast that it wasn’t time for her understand.’

Jayme’s face was plastered on billboards across Wisconsin as the desperate search dragged on

Arnold has been haunted by the gruesome, blood and brain-spattered scene described in the criminal complaint in the week since it was released. The gunshot to the head left Denise ‘with the rear backside of her head and skull plate completely removed and lying next to her body in the bathtub’.

‘I wanted to know. I had to know — to give myself some closure. Unfortunately, with some closure came a whole new level of terror for me as a mom,’ Arnold said.

‘I lock my doors at night, but that’s not good enough if somebody wants in,’ she continued. ‘[Denise] did everything she could. They were barricaded in the bathroom hiding.

‘When you’re in your house, you do feel safe. That guy had a mission and there was nothing stopping that. Mothers everywhere, are feeling extra protective of their kids.’

She also pointed out the grim reality that even if she laid down her life to protect her own children, as Denise and James did, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be safe.

‘Yes, I will die for my kids, but then you realize that doesn’t mean my kids are going to be okay,’ she said.

Jayme was found at the Eau Claire Acres estate near the town of Gordon, which is about 70 miles away from her home in Barron where she was abducted

The image above shows the cabin in rural Wisconsin where Patterson allegedly held Jayme

After the cold-blooded murders, Patterson threw Jayme in the trunk of his car and drove her to his come in Gordon, Wisconsin, about 70 miles away.

For nearly three months he kept her in a space under his twin-sized bed and concealed her from view. She tried to escape at least twice, leading Patterson to throw a tantrum, hitting the wall and screaming to make her fearful to try to leave again.

On the day of her escape he told her he was leaving for a few hours. She stumbled out of the home on Thursday January 10 and approached a woman walking her dog in Eau Claire Acres in Gordon telling her she was kidnapped and her abductor killed her parents. The woman took her to a neighbor’s house where they called police.

Patterson was arrested the same day and charged with two counts of first-degree homicide, one count of kidnapping and one count of armed burglary, according to the complaint. He is being held at Barron County Jail.

Arnold watched his court Monday court appearance on the news. She said: ‘That was hard — just to see this guy. You feel like it’s happening all over again.’

Lana Condor Says Her ‘X-Men’ Role Prepared Her For ‘Deadly Class’

Lana Condor has to thank her role in X-Men: Apocalypse a lot for preparing her for Deadly Class.

Talking with EW, the 21-year-old explained that her part as Jubilee helped her in “knowledge of what it’s like to work on a project that already has a pre-existing source material and a fan base.”

Lana adds, “Because of X-Men, I was able to understand [that] because the fans are the most important part I have to be true to this character, [and] we have to be true to this story as much as possible because that really makes a difference to the fans.”

“It’s kind of the same-ish story where there’s a group of kids that have a special kind of ability, or a special skill-set,” Lana continued. “The difference is that Kings Dominion is just way darker than the mansion that we go to in X-Men.”

Nicola Sturgeon says Theresa May is out of ideas on Brexit

Nicola Sturgeon says Theresa May is out of ideas on Brexit and demands an extension to Article 50 to buy more time for talks in the wake of the crushing defeat

  • SNP leader held a call with Theresa May last night after historic Brexit defeat
  • Nicola Sturgeon said PM must axe her red lines and delay Brexit for more talks
  • She also called for another EU referendum, as she spoke in Parliament’s lobby
  • Mrs May is scrambling to cling on as PM and keep her Brexit deal alive after vote

Nicola Sturgeon today accused Theresa May of running out of ideas on Brexit – as she demanded Britain’s exit is delayed amid the chaos.

The SNP leader, who spoke with the PM on the phone last night, said Mrs May shows no signs of budging on her Brexit red lines despite the historic defeat.

She said there is no time to come up with a compromise before the March 29 exit date and demanded Article 50 is extended to give talks more time.

The Scottish First Minister swept into Westminster to try to capitalise on the Brexit chaos in No10 and push for her own alternate Brexit plan.

Mrs May’s deal was voted down by a massive 230 votes, by 432 to 202 – the biggest defeat inflicted on a British Prime Minister in history.

She is now launching desperate cross-party talks with senior parliamentarians to try to drum up support for a deal that will finally get through Parliament.

But Ms Sturgeon said she ‘did not glean very much’ about what the PM plans to do next in her call with her last night.

EU urges May to DROP her Brexit red lines: Barnier twists…

She told the BBC: ‘To be perfectly frank I didn’t glean very much – she was at pains to tell me she wanted to sit down with other parties and listen to other ideas.

‘But I got the very strong sense she does not have a clear idea herself of what the next steps are and it doesn’t seem to meas if she is prepared to abandon or move any of her red lines to open space for new approaches to be brought forward

‘It sounded like what she wanted to do was find a minor variation of her current deal – the one that was so overwhelmingly rejected last night.

EU urges May to drop her Brexit red lines after historic defeat

The EU twisted the knife today after Theresa May fell to a humiliating defeat on the Brexit deal – with Michel Barnier urging her to drop ‘red lines’.

The Prime Minister has been left scrambling to find a way forward after suffered the biggest Commons loss ever for a government, with an extraordinary 118 Tories rebelling against the plan.

A clearly shattered Mrs May also faces a no-confidence battle tonight, after Jeremy Corbyn insisted the government had come to the ‘end of the line’ and demanded an election.

The escape routes for the premier appear to be closing, with the EU signalled a tough line. A senior German minister this morning dismissed the prospect of delaying Article 50 unless there is a clear ‘path’ for getting an agreement implemented.

And the EU’s chief negotiator Mr Barnier goaded Mrs May by demanding she respond by abandoning her long-standing negotiation positions, such as ending free movement, ruling out a permanent customs union, and ending the jurisdiction of EU law.

While saying he was ‘sad’ the deal had been rejected, Mr Barnier suggested the defeat was an ‘opportunity’ to stay more closely aligned with the EU.

The call for softer Brexit came amid mounting splits in the Cabinet over what to do in the wake of the catastrophic failure.

Commons Leader Andrea Leadsom said the Brexit date must not be delayed beyond the end of March.

But Chancellor Philip Hammond is said to have suggested to business leaders in a phone call last night that Article 50 would be extended.

‘That seems to me as if she is just trying to run down the clock and that is unconscionable.

‘We do not have any more time to waste.

‘As a minimum right now we need to be looking at an extension of Article 50.’

Number Ten sources have made it clear that the PM does not want to extend Article 50 and is still trying to hang on to her red lines – including ending free movement and giving Britain an independent trade policy.

Ms Sturgeon poured cold water on an immediate plan for Britain to strike a Norway-style deal with the EU – which would keep Britain in the EU customs union and single market.

The plan is being pushed by a cross party group of MPs which includes Tory Nick Boles and and Labour MP Stephen Kinnock.

And instead she said that Britain must have a second Brexit referendum as Parliament is in deadlock.

Speaking with a mob of SNP MPs behind her in Parliament’s central lobby, she said: ‘I think the only credible option for the UK now is to put this back to the electorate.

‘The Government and Parliament has failed and we cannot go on hoping for the unicorn to appear out of nowhere.’

And she also pushed her calls for Scotland to hold another independence referendum.

She said: ‘Longer term for Scotland, it is becoming clear that the only place to protect our interests is through being an independent country.’

Mrs May is facing an onslaught from all sides after suffering the catastrophic defeat last night.

She faces a no-confidence battle tonight, after Jeremy Corbyn insisted the government had come to the ‘end of the line’ and demanded an election.

And as Ms Sturgeon travelled to Westminster to turn the screw, EU leaders in Brussels twisted the knife and demand the PM to drop her red lines.

Michel Barnier goaded Mrs May by demanding she respond by abandoning her long-standing negotiation positions, such as ending free movement, ruling out a permanent customs union, and ending the jurisdiction of EU law.

The SNP leader (pictured in Parliament today with her MPs) who spoke with the PM on the phone last night, said Mrs May shows no signs of budging on her Brexit red lines despite the historic defeat

Boris Johnson (pictured among MPs voting against the deal, far left) said he did not ‘rejoice’ in the massive defeat suffered by Theresa May, but demanded that she ditches the Irish border backstop and takes a ‘fresh approach’

While saying he was ‘sad’ the deal had been rejected, Mr Barnier suggested the defeat was an ‘opportunity’ to stay more closely aligned with the EU.

The call for softer Brexit came amid mounting splits in the Cabinet over what to do in the wake of the catastrophic failure in Parliament last night.

Commons Leader Andrea Leadsom insisted this morning that the Brexit date must not be delayed beyond the end of March.

But Chancellor Philip Hammond is said to have suggested to business leaders in a phone call last night that Article 50 would be extended and the government was entering a ‘new era’ in its approach.

’90 Day Fiance’ star says she’s been hospitalized for kidney failure

A reality TV star on Sunday announced that she was found unresponsive inside her home and rushed to the hospital where she was diagnosed with acute kidney failure due to lupus.

Ashley Martson, a star on TLC’s "90 Day Fiance," posted a photo of herself where she appeared to be sleeping in a hospital bed connected to IVs. She said she will be moved to another hospital better equipped to deal with her specific needs.

"I will not let this beat me," she posted. "I know I'm strong enough to battle through this, not just for myself but for my kids."

The causes of lupus are unknown. Symptoms can include bloody or foamy urine, unexplained weight gain, high blood pressure or swelling in the legs, ankles or around the eyes.

Patients with lupus who face kidney failure have two main options, according to the National Kidney Foundation. The patient could be treated with dialysis or have a kidney transplant.

Selena Gomez, the singer, had a kidney transplant due to lupus in 2017.

US official says troop withdrawal from Syria has started

US withdrawal of troops from Syria has officially begun, military spokesman confirms but refuses to discuss timeline of exit or specific locations

  • United States has begun ‘the process of deliberate withdrawal from Syria’
  • US military convoy drove from Rmeilan, northeastern Syria into Iraq last night
  • The US has some 2,000 troops on the ground in Syria, according to reports

An American military official says the U.S.-led military coalition has begun the process of withdrawing troops from Syria.

Col. Sean Ryan, spokesman for the U.S.-coalition fighting ISIS, says the U.S. started ‘the process of our deliberate withdrawal from Syria.’

The withdrawal began Thursday night, according to the UK-based monitoring group Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The U.S. has started ‘the process of deliberate withdrawal from Syria’. Pictured is a convoy of US military vehicles in Syria’s northern city of Manbij two weeks ago

It said a convoy of about ten armored vehicles, in addition to some trucks, pulled out from Syria’s northeastern town of Rmeilan into Iraq.

‘CJTF-OIR has begun the process of our deliberate withdrawal from Syria,’ spokesman Colonel Sean Ryan said in a statement, referring to the US-led anti-jihadist force.

‘Out of concern for operational security, we will not discuss specific timelines, locations or troops movements,’ he said.

Trump’s shock announcement on December 19 that he was withdrawing all 2,000 American troops from the conflict-wracked Middle Eastern country concerned allies and prompted the resignation of his then defense chief Jim Mattis.

Since then, however, administration officials appear to have walked back considerably and the current envisaged timetable is unclear.

The removal of the equipment in recent days was first reported by CNN, which quoted an administration official with direct knowledge of the operation as saying it signaled the beginning of US withdrawal from the Middle Eastern country.

A U.S. soldier, left, sits on an armored vehicle behind a sand barrier at a newly installed position near the front line between the U.S-backed Syrian Manbij Military Council and the Turkish-backed fighters, in Manbij, north Syria in April last year

The official quoted by CNN would not describe exactly what the cargo was or how it was being transported.

They also did not say what part of Syria it came from, though it is expected the drawdown would begin in the country’s north.

The CNN report added that officials it had previously spoken to said the Pentagon wants to signal to the president it is working towards his goals following his withdrawal decision last month.

Though the removal of troops is not on the cards immediately, withdrawing equipment is a means of showing progress towards this goal, it added.

On Sunday, National Security Adviser John Bolton set out stringent conditions for the proposed withdrawal, saying the defense of allies must first be assured.

‘We’re going to be discussing the president’s decision to withdraw, but to do so from northeast Syria in a way that makes sure that ISIS is defeated and is not able to revive itself and become a threat again,’ Bolton said when meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem.

Speaking in Egypt Thursday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stressed the troop pullout from Syria would go ahead as he urged Middle East nations to forge a common stand against Tehran.

Nurse says Capitals are a championship-winning team

Canberra Capitals import Kia Nurse knows a thing or two about winning a championship.

Nurse starred on arguably the greatest college basketball team of all time at the University of Connecticut before she was picked 10th in the 2018 WNBA draft.

Capitals point guard Kia Nurse is fifth in the league on points per game this season. Credit:Sitthixay Ditthavong

The point guard won two national championships at Connecticut to complement her two AmeriCup and Pan American Games titles playing for Canada.

Table-toppers Canberra have won six in a row and already punched their WNBL finals ticket for the first time in eight years.

They could secure finals home-court advantage with road wins against the Townsville Fire on Friday and the Sydney Flames on Sunday.

Capitals forward Kelsey Griffin leads the league in points per game and rebounds and is a near-certainty to be named the competition's most valuable player.

Griffin has a supporting cast of league leaders with Kelly Wilson (assists), Leilani Mitchell (steals) and Marianna Tolo (blocks), while Nurse averages 18.33 points per game.

Nurse said she's been on more championship teams than she can count and believes the Capitals have what it takes to win their first title since the 2009-10 season.

"I’ve been lucky and been on a lot of good teams. Fortunately, I've been in a lot of positions where I’ve been surrounded by a lot of good players," Nurse said.

"When you have teams that have more than one person that other teams have to guard it makes it a lot more difficult to get beat you and that's what makes the difference in championship runs.

"Absolutely [I feel like we can win it]. With our leadership and togetherness, it's definitely aligned with a lot of the championship teams I've been on."

Nurse knows the Capitals have what it takes to lift the trophy but warned complacency can stop the best teams in their tracks.

"Once you get to this time of the season it’s still the same thing, you’re still trying to put a ball in a hoop and score more points than the other teams," Nurse said.

"If you get too far ahead of yourself then you end up not being able to get to that [grand final] position and a lot of the time when you get into big tournaments, like the NCAA tournament, when you only have to win six games to win the whole thing, you have to win one game in a row six times.

"If you think of it that way then you’re more likely to focus on what’s in front of you and not what’s beyond.

"Where we are now and how we’re playing is great but it's what we expected and we need to continue building on our momentum."

See Why Patti Stanger Says "F— You" to Ex-Employees Destin & Rachel

Patti Stanger isn’t letting her former employees off the hook for leaving her company.

In an exclusive sneak peek of the upcoming episode of "Million Dollar Matchmaker," Stanger gets ambushed by Destin Pfaff and Rachel Federoff, who she hasn’t seen since they parted ways on very bad terms.

"I have not seen these people in two or three years," Patti says. "What are you doing here?"

"We want to rekindle a friendship with you," Pfaff replies.

Stanger’s former employees explain that they want to reconcile so they can all work together again. "We miss her and we want our family back," Destin declares.

This doesn’t sit well with Patti, who clearly is still holding a grudge.

"They want to be friends again?" she asks the camera during a confessional. "Oh, no, no, no. I don’t want to be friends with them."

"I do have something for them," she says as she pretends to reach into her jacket pocket. "I have a big fat this (as she holds up her censored middle finger)."

"What do you think we’re just going to hug it out … like this is ‘Entourage?’ Get over yourself. All I’ve ever done is be nice to you. I made you," Stanger yells. "Matchmaking is an art, that I taught. It takes years and years to master … You need to realize what you did."

Check out the clip to see how Destin and Rachel react — do you think these three can bury the hatchet?

See all the drama unfold on “Million Dollar Matchmaker” on Friday at 10PM ET/PT on WeTV.
