Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn has reportedly quit the show after six years of playing Sinead Tinker.
Katie, 25, has been on the ITV soap since 2013, and has been integral to a number of central storylines over the last year.
With her decision to leave, Katie becomes the sixth star to ditch the soap within a matter of months.
A source told The Sun: “Katie has just been nominated for a British Soap Award so it’s a big loss and not what bosses would have wanted to hear.”
It’s believed bosses are desperately on the lookout for fresh meat in a bid to make up for the void that will be left by Katie’s departure.
“She’s been central to a number of key storylines this last year or so and will need replacing urgently,” added the source.
The news comes after Katie’s co-star, Faye, 31, broke the news she was disappearing from the cobbles to her 79,400 Instagram followers on Tuesday.
She wrote: “Thanks to everyone for your amazing support, but after four fabulous years in Weatherfield it’s time for me to explore new opportunities.
“I’ve loved playing Kate Connor, but she needs a break for a little while and so with a song in my heart I’m off to pastures new.”
However, her decision to quit has left diehard fans confused this week, considering Faye said last month that she had no plans to leave in the near future.
During an interview with OK! magazine, Faye claimed that she felt as though she had “only just begun” to settle into the role.
“Death was the only realistic way for Bhavna Limbachia to leave because I’m not going anywhere,” said Faye.
Daily Star Online has contacted a rep for Corrie for comment.
