Rapper Tre Da Kid, 32, is found shot dead inside a crashed car in Maryland – just one hour before he was scheduled to perform

A Maryland rapper was shot dead in his car just an hour before he was set to perform. 

Edward Montre Seay of Chester, 32, was found fatally shot in his car on Friday night while driving through the city, just about an hour before he was scheduled to perform at The One Sports Bar & Lounge in Baltimore.

The rapper, who went by the stage name Tre Da Kid, died from his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police were called to the crash site around 9.19pm for reports of a shooting and the smashed vehicle was found at Forest drive and South Cherry Grove Avenue. Seay was the sole occupant of the vehicle, according to the Capital Gazette.

As of Sunday morning, no arrests have been made in the attack. Police are investigating the incident.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Amy Miguez did not say whether his death was connected to his performing career. 

Seay rose to fame after winning Verizon’s 2016 #Freestyle50 rap contest which earned him a $10,000 and a recording contract with 300 Entertainment.

‘Tre impressed the judges with his delivery, showmanship and off-the-dome creativity,’ 300’s co-founder Kevin Liles said on the artist. 

He released the album ‘TDK: Titles define Kings’ in March where he rapped about pain, heartbreak, and perseverance. 

‘I think about the days I could have died like 10 times. Only thing that saved me was rap, I had to spit rhymes,’ he rapped on the album.    

Online he boasted a following of over 7,000 followers on Instagram. 

The homicide fell on the fifth National Gun Violence Awareness Day and on the eve of a rally meant to kick of a campaign for a safe summer in Annapolis, according to CBS. 

Cops are offering a $2,000 reward for any information that can lead to an arrest. 

Tributes are pouring in for the murdered rapper, some hailing him as a ‘light on the city’ of Annapolis. 

Many are also urging Mayor Gavin Buckley to rename a street ‘Montre Seay Way’ in his honor. 

‘Any time there was any doubt, he was the one to make us a believer,’ Seay’s friend Comacell Brown said. ‘We’ve all just rallied behind him so we’re really appreciative of him continuing to follow the dream.’ 

He added that first and foremost, Seay was a devoted father who helped his son with his schoolwork. 

‘Everyone looks at him as the father of the year,’ Brown added.
