AJ ODUDU has admitted that there is ‘nothing’ wrong with the possibility of her and Strictly 2021 dance partner Kai Widdrington developing a romance off-screen.

What is wrong with that? Nothing, is the answer.

She talked to You Magazine about the developing rumours about the chemistry between herself and Kai .

AJ said that she is currently single in a candid chat with the publication.

She said:  “I’ve always been quite open about the fact that I’m single.”

She continued, saying that she is very cautious pursuing new relationships, due to past failures and hurt.

“Because I’ve suffered so much heartache in previous relationships – and have been cheated on – when it comes to romance I’m definitely not the sort of person to just jump into something.”

AJ seemed sure that the “Strictly” curse, whereby marriages and partnerships come to a swift end after the show is over, doesn’t apply to her.

She was asked about this, as she and Kai would be getting together as two single people.

The star replied: “Yeah. What is wrong with that? Nothing, is the answer.”

AJ clarified, however, that her primary focal point of interest still remains in dancing.

“But while I love that people have this newfound interest in my life, I’m still very much focused on being the best that I can be as a dancer,” she said.

She added that she spends at least ten hours a day practising her routine.

“Then there’s the anxiety of performing in front of millions.

“So I still want people to admire what my feet and arms are doing on the dancefloor, rather than what’s happening off it,” she continued.

This weekend saw the quarter-finals of Strictly 2021.

AJ and Kai, who have been top performers throughout the competition, took on a Salsa to Rhythm Is Gonna Get You by Gloria Estefan.

AJ broke down crying due to a small mistake at the end of their routine.

Partner Kai said that his hand slipped.

Craig Revel Horwood called it a “dancing disaster”, and said the whole performance was “flat-footed”.

After the performance, AJ spoke to Claudia Winkleman and started crying, saying: “I’m gutted because we worked so hard this week, I don’t want to get emotional.”

She added that she was scared she’d let everyone down.

Whilst she was sobbing, Claudia said: “Oh sweetheart, you haven’t let anybody down,” before showing her a message from her sister.
