Amy Hart – ‘I laboured for 4 days just using hypnobreathing – it was amazing’

Amy Hart has opened up on her birthing experience, after giving birth to her first child with boyfriend Sam Rason.

The former Love Island star, 30, welcomed a baby boy into the world last week and confirmed the happy news on Instagram with a sweet photo of her holding her newborn.

The star later revealed that she spent five days in hospital before bringing the little one home, with the couple naming their baby Stanley Samuel Giles Rason.

Now Amy has opened up about her birth and her “amazing” experience of using hypnobirthing in labour.

Speaking to OK!, Amy shared of her birth: “It was super quick! It meant I could only have gas and air, but it meant I felt everything and could get up and walk around afterwards.

“Hypnobirthing was absolutely amazing – I did four days and 10cm on hypnobirthing and breathing alone. I completely recommend that to everybody – it was amazing!

“I used it in between my contractions as well, so that when I was pushing I used the hypnobreathing to keep my mind focused in between the pushes and then again when I was being stitched up."

Hypnobreathing involves using relaxation and self-hypnosis techniques to help relax the body before and during labour and birth.

It is thought that the technique can help with any fear and anxiety around birth and help with the experience of pain.

Amy gushed over her partner Sam in helping her through her birth and called seeing him as a new dad “magical”.

"Sam has been absolutely amazing throughout all of this. For the contractions for the four days he was so supportive and reminding me of things we've learnt at hypnobirthing and NCT,” Amy shared.

“Throughout the actual labour he was so supportive, rubbing my back. There was a time when I didn't want anyone to touch me, but he still rubbed my back, but kept his distance while rubbing my back.

“It's so magical seeing him being a dad. They have such an amazing bond already – Sam loves the baby cuddles! It's really amazing seeing someone you love so much become a dad and he's going to be an amazing dad forever, but he's been an amazing dad so far."

Amy had previously decided to freeze her eggs, going through the procedure four times with a plan to start IVF, but after meeting Sam, she conceived naturally last year.

Despite the challenges of new parenthood, Amy says she's loving being a mum and the couple are lucky that Stanley has been a "very chilled baby" so far.

"Being a mum is literally the best thing I've ever done. I always said I would be one of those mums who's like 'I love him so much, I love him so much', because it goes without saying, of course you love your kids, but all I do is tell him I love him, tell everyone else I love him, just because he is just the cutest thing ever – I'm obsessed with him," Amy said.

She added: "Me and Sam are both quite chilled people, and that's what people have been commenting on when we come round to visit, is how relaxed and chilled we are.

"I think that is reflected in the baby because he's very chilled baby so far.

"We're muddling through, taking things easy. Some days we have dinner at 10pm, some days 6pm. We're taking each day as it comes really."
