Canned Heat released a new version of “Let’s Work Together,” featuring William Shatner, on July 16.
The original song, released in 1969 by Wilbert Harrison, called on “every boy, girl, woman and man” to join social movements that promoted peace, justice and equality, and profess “Together we will stand, divided we’ll fall.”
Canned Heat released a cover version of the song the following year.
It became a super hit and further pushed Harrison’s call to action and unity.
The backing track for the new version of “Let’s Work Together” has been created by the current crew of Canned Heat that includes veteran drummer Adolfo “Fito” de la Parra, and features a guest appearance by Harvey Mandel.
“This is a terrific song for this moment in time!” Shatner proclaimed.
“Let’s Work Together” will be part of Shatner’s new album, The Blues, due out later this year, via Cleopatra Records.
