Chris Evans, 54, believes he’s “won the wife lottery” after being waited on hand and foot by his beloved whilst he was on bed rest following his kidney stone surgery. Chris and Natasha Shishmanian married in 2007, and share four children together, 11-year-old Noah, Eli, eight, and two-year-old twins Walt and Boo, all of whom kept him company during his two weeks away from the Virgin Radio studio.
I’m so grateful to have won the wife lottery
Chris returned to the decks on Monday this week, after taking a leave of absence to recover from the operation.
He had three kidney stones removed after they left him in a pain so severe he had to go to A&E.
But despite spending some quality time – from his bed – with his family, Chris was happy to be back.
“I’m just very glad to be back at work,” he told Virgin Radio ahead of Monday.
But he wanted to praise his wife for all her help.
“I’m so grateful to have won the wife lottery,” the former BBC DJ beamed.
“I can now confirm I do have the greatest wife in the world.
“You may think you do, but you’re wrong.”
Despite being cleared to work again, Chris is still feeling a little delicate after the procedure and was horrified to learn that Natasha had signed them both up for a 50 and 100 mile Ultramarathon.
The Ultra she had in mind required all participants to have already run a 50 mile marathon before they are allowed to enter, so in total Chris will be undertaking a whopping 150 miles after only having had surgery a couple of weeks ago.
Not too long back, he and his co-star Vassos Alexander were discussing how his wife was desperate to run one, but the former Radio 2 star insisted he wouldn’t be joining her.
Now it seems, that’s not the case.

While his co-star Vassos Alexander, was excited to know more about the challenges, Chris was beside himself, exasperated at the thought of doing so much exercise while he’s still in discomfort.
“This is only yesterday!” he moaned.
“I’m barely out of hospital!
“I can barely feel between my legs!”
He revealed Tash has a couple of routes in mind for their 50 mile race, but he’s yet to find out what she has planned.
As Vassos recommended one that is taking place this June, Chris admitted it wouldn’t work with the timings of the 100 miler, meaning he doesn’t have long to squeeze it in before the big run!
The Chris Evans Breakfast Show airs weekday at 6:30am on Virgin Radio with Sky.
