Coleen Rooney has claimed Rebekah Vardy’s decision to compete on Dancing on Ice is an attempt to “get the public on her side”, according to reports.

The 34 year old wife of Wayne Rooney is set to face Rebekah, 38, in court after Rebekah filed a libel case against her.

Rebekah is suing Coleen after she claimed Becky’s Instagram account had leaked stories about her to the press.

Amidst the ongoing row, it was announced that Rebekah will be taking part in the next series of Dancing on Ice alongside Billie Faiers and Faye Brooks.

But, Coleen, who recently released the fake posts used to “expose” Rebekah, reportedly isn’t convinced about her reasons behind signing up to the show.

A source said: “They’re both digging in for the long haul. Neither one is prepared to back down.

“Becky’s decision to do Dancing on Ice is understandable from her point of view.

“She sees it as an opportunity to prove to people that she’s not who they think she is.”

The insider added to The Sun Online: “She wants them to see her not as a snake or a grass as she’s been labelled, but a devoted mum and wife. Coleen’s not having it though.

“As far as she is concerned Becky is using it to get the public on her side ahead of their libel trial.

“Coleen is absolutely certain she is right and is standing true to her beliefs.

“She knows she might lose and have to pay damages but she doesn’t care.

“This isn’t about money to her — it’s about principle and honesty and she will shell out however much it takes.”

It comes after Rebekah revealed her determination to clear her name as she was announced for the show on Good Morning Britain.

During her chat, where she was speaking to Piers and Susanna Reid via video link, Piers couldn’t help but ask her about her legal battle with Coleen.

He said: “I know there's something we can’t talk about, that everyone else is talking about. So the thing that we can’t talk about, is there anything you can say about it?”

Rebekah told Piers off as she said: “You’re so predictable I just knew that was going to come out!”

Piers said: “I didn’t mention what it is…”

Rebekah then laughed and said: “I just know what you’re about to say.”

Piers then pressed as he said: “Everyone’s talking about it and I know you can’t for legal reasons but is there anything you can say?”

Rebekah then gave in as she confessed: “Look, we tried to sort things out amicably, it just didn’t work. I understand people think it’s ridiculous, but what was I meant to do? I need to clear my name.”

She added: “I will do whatever it takes, and I hope it's going to be resolved soon. It's just one of those things that has to go through the process, unfortunately.”
