Coronation Street’s Lucy Fallon pays emotional tribute and goodbye to her ‘second family’ as she leaves soap

Coronation Street's Lucy Fallon is leaving the ITV soap after five years as Bethany Platt and after filming her final scenes, she paid an emotional tribute to her co-stars.

The 24 year old called her on-screen family, the Platts, her “second family” and thanked them for teaching her all she knows, after she landed her role on the cobbles straight out of sixth form.

Lucy brought her actual family and her boyfriend Tom Leech to the set of the Manchester-based soap as she prepared to bid farewell and shared a picture of herself surrounded by her family on the couch in the Platt’s sitting room, along with snaps of Bethany over the years.

Alongside the collage, Lucy wrote: “I’m writing this with mascara all over my face and tears/snot dripping onto my clothes but that’s a wrap… on what has been the most incredible 5 years of my life.

“It’s so crazy to me that 5 years ago, I had just finished 6th form and had no idea what direction life was going to take me in. I never in a million years expected that I would be calling Gail platt a friend.

"But here we are… and I’m grateful for every single second of it. It’s such a cliche, but the platt family really are a second family to me. And I will forever be in debt to them.

"They have taught me everything I know… who needs a degree and drama school when you have the PLATts????

"To the cast, crew, and everyone in between, I will hold you all in my heart for the rest of my life. And to the viewers, thank you for the endless amount of support I have received over the years.

"And to you bethany… oh what fun we’ve had. But it’s not goodbye, just see ya later.” [sic]

Lucy’s co-stars commented underneath her post to wish her well in her future career and also tell her just how much she will be missed.

Brooke Vincent, who is currently on maternity leave from her Sophie Webster role, wrote: “Oh Baby Girl!!! You’ve Been & Will Continue To Be The Bestest!!! Shineeeeeeeeeeeeee Sophistikitten.” [sic]

Lucy’s on-screen mum Tina O’Brien wrote: “I shouldn’t be reading this and looking at the pictures while listening to “with you” from ghost the musical BIG MISTAKE.

"You are truly beautiful inside and out and I’m going to miss you! You take the sunshine with you wherever you go. I can’t wait to hear what amazing adventures you’re up too xxxxxxxx." [sic]
