The soundtrack for Echo in the Canyon, a new documentary about Los Angeles’ Laurel Canyon and the music from the mid-1960s, will feature covers of several classic songs by artists such as Neil Young, Beck and more.
Echo in the Canyon tells the story of how musical groups such as The Byrds, The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield, and The Mamas & the Papas birthed the beginnings of the Laurel Canyon music scene.
The documentary, which is being directed by Andrew Slater, will be accompanied by an exclusive soundtrack produced by Slater featuring covers of classic tracks from artists featured in the film, like Fiona Apple, Beck, Eric Clapton, Jakob Dylan, Norah Jones, Neil Young, and many more.
The documentary will also feature in-depth interviews with Clapton, David Crosby, Brian Wilson, Jackson Browne, and the late Tom Petty, to whom the film is dedicated.
BMG will premiere Echo in the Canyon at ArcLight’s Cinerama Dome and The Landmark in Los Angeles on May 24 with live music performances.
