Emily Andrea has defended The Only Way Is Essex stars who have been slammed for attending a party in lockdown.

Peter Andre’s 30 year old wife said the criticism was “unfair” after stars including Chloe Lewis,Yazmin Oukhellou and Amber Turner faced backlash for attending Courtney Green’s birthday party.

In social media videos, stars were seen kissing, hugging and sharing microphones, despite strict social distancing rules put in place by the government amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Writing in her column for OK! magazine, junior doctor Emily, who said she has been “struggling” with her allergies after buying stepdaughter Princess rabbits, said celebrities should not be expected to set and example amid the pandemic.

She explained: “Some of the TOWIE cast have been criticised for breaking social-distancing rules at a party for Courtney Green’s 25th birthday.

“It seems unfair because lots of people are breaking the rules, but unfortunately when you have so many social media followers it’s a bit more tricky.

“Whether or not you agree with the rules, when you’re in the public eye I think you have a duty to try and at least look like you’re socially distancing.”

She added: “It’s probably not the best idea to post it all over social media for their young followers to see.”

It comes after Chloe Lewis, who recently met up with TOWIE star mums for a socially distanced catchup, hit back at critics after attending the party.

As Chloe shared a photo of her with Courtney Green and Chloe Meadows from the bash, the girls were met with a slew of comments questioning why they weren’t social distancing.

“Happy birthday… but it astounds me how you can throw a party without any thought to social distancing! then post it over Instagram that you are breaking the law. WOW!,” one angry fan wrote.

A second added: “Love this but honestly does anyone not follow the 2m rule?! I’ve seen so many people from TV having parties with their mates!”

Chloe then replied to the comment with: “not a party & we have had tests done. So we are safe.”

But fans still weren’t satisfied with the response, to which one angry Instagram user wrote: “government tests are available for anyone showing symptoms. Using government tests to try and ‘prove’ you’re safe to indulge in a socially undistanced gathering would be a misuse of resources.

“Chloe may well have bought her own test though.”
