Eamonn Holmeshas alleged that he was “given no reason” for his axing from This Morning.
Eamonn hadhosted the show for 15 yearsalongside his wife Ruth Langsford, 61, and hassince moved over to GB News.
Rumours first surfaced of Eamonn’s exit in November 2021, and he's since began his new role at GB News this month.
In the wake of the 62 year old confirming his departure from ITV last year, he’s now claimed the broadcaster failed to give him a proper reason why he would no longer be on This Morning.
Speaking toThe Times,Eamonn said: “I don’t have any issues with that at all. I just have issues with why they can’t tell you your time is up. Just have a conversation, any conversation. I was given no reason why I was blocked.”
OK! have approached ITV for comment.
A spokesperson for ITV said at the time of Eamonn’s departure late last year: "We would like to wish Eamonn all of the very best in his new role.
“As a duo, Eamonn and Ruth have been part of the This Morning presenting team for the last 15 years and we thank Eamonn for all of his hard work and contribution to the show.”
Regarding Ruth’s fate on the hit ITV morning programme, the hosting veteran confirmed this month that, despite Eamonn’s exit, she’ll be remaining on both This Morning and Loose Women.
She told Best magazine: “I'm still at ITV, with This Morning and Loose Women.”
Backing Ruth’s claims, a spokesperson, reported byThe Mirror , released a statement as they declared: “Ruth remains an important part of ITV Daytime both as a continuing member of the This Morning family and as an anchor presenter on Loose Women."
Discussing her husband's new role, Ruth added: “I'm thrilled, It's what he does best. He's always been very entertaining on This Morning – Eamonn can turn his hand to anything."
“He's a total news junkie, I'm very proud of him. Yes, no more This Morning together – but it doesn't mean there aren't other projects we can do together,” she continued.
Announcing the news of his new role, Eamonn branded GB News as “one of the most exciting” start-ups.
He penned on Twitter in December: “I’ve spent my career on broadcasting firsts and start-ups, and GB News is one of the most exciting yet. It’s just the kind of shake-up the industry needs.
“I’ve admired GB News from the beginning for its clever mix of punchy debate but delivered with warmth and even some fun.”
“To me the greatest honour in journalism is to give a voice and respect to the unheard, and that’s exactly what GB News is all about,” Eamonn continued.
