Top Gear presenter Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff, 43, has opened up on spending time away from his wife Rachael Wools Flintoff due to his busy work schedule in a recently unearthed interview, the former England cricketer told how after spending extended amounts of time at home after retiring from the sport in 2010, Rachael doesn’t hesitate to ask her husband when he’s next planning to hit the road, after becoming used to time away from her spouse.

She will say, ‘When are you off again?’

The couple met in 2002 when Freddie was playing cricket at the Edbaston Cricket Ground, which Rachael attended for a business event.

But due to the star’s hectic work schedule as an international sportsman, Freddie often had to jet off for long periods of time during the start of their relationship.

However, he admitted that both he and Rachael are now used to spending time apart.

Freddie said: “When we met I travelled a lot because I played cricket.

“I would go away for three or four months and she would come out for a little bit of it,” he added.

The former England player told how after retiring, his wife becomes antsy if he is now at home for too long.

“Even since retiring from cricket, the jobs I’ve done have been taking me away from home,” Freddie continued.

“We are used to living like that.

“If I spend an extended period of time at home, she is looking at me and she will say, ‘When are you off again?'” he told The Sun.

Freddie and Rachael married in 2005 at the Pavilion Road Hotel in Knightsbridge, London.

Rachael was previously signed to Storm model agency and ran her own events company at the age of 19.

Since meeting in 2002, the couple have had four children together.

The pair welcomed daughter Holly in 2004.

In 2006 they had a son, Corey, and two years after, they had their son Rocky.

Last April, the duo welcomed another addition to their family, keeping news of the birth private.

Appearing on talkSPORT, Freddie said: “Little Preston was born at Christmas – it is the first time I’ve actually spoken about it.

“But yeah, we have got another baby and it has been nice spending time with him.”

Prior to welcoming Preston, Freddie told The Sun how he and Rachael had decided not to have any more children.

In 2016, he revealed: “We thought about it…I originally wanted five but you have three and that felt like enough.

“I couldn’t go back to the nappy stage now,” Freddie added.
