Gemma Collins quits social media after Dancing On Ice backlash

Reality star Gemma Collins told fans she was putting her social media accounts aside to focus on Dancing On Ice.

The Only Way Is Essex diva may have won over viewers with her performance on the ITV skating show, but she received largely negative feedback for her latest skate with partner Matt Evers, with all four judges claiming she didn’t have enough content in her routine.

Despite Gemma blaming Jason Gardiner for distracting her by "selling stories," the blonde bombshell has now conceded that she needs to get some more practice in – and has ditched her Instagram in a desperate attempt to improve.

Taking to Instagram, Gemma shared a hilarious mash up of her row with Jason and Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next music video as she explained why she was leaving the platform.

"Guys after today I can’t be on social as I really need to up my skating skills," she wrote.

"I’m not leaving you but I really need to focus. Here’s a little something to keep you going xxx"

Gemma signed off telling fans that she would return to the app on Sunday, in time for the next live show.

Her decision to cut out social media comes as her row with Jason received a mixed response at the weekend, with some branding it "iconic," while others slammed her for being a "princess".

"Why can’t @missgemcollins ever accept there is a time and a place!!! Just done herself no good at all. Looks like a sulking child now," one show viewer wrote after watching the pair’s fiery interaction.

Meanwhile, another called James Argent’s girlfriend a "z lister who thinks she has a right to be a diva!"

She was also hit with several reports suggesting she was in a feud with show hosts, Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield earlier in the week – something she’s since passionately denied.

The rumours started after Holly and Phil spoke about Gemma’s "diva" backstage antics on This Morning, suggesting she napped through the first dress rehearsal and left the second live show early.

Encouraging Gemma that quitting social media was the right thing to do amid all the drama, one fan wrote: "Good idea babe, work hard!", while another added: "Good for you @gemmacollins1".
