Gordon Ramsay swipes at Gino’s supermarket collaborations
Gordon Ramsay, 56, didn’t pull any punches when he appeared on Zoe Ball’s BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show this morning to discuss his latest projects.
After chatting about his BBC series Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars, he dragged Gino D’Acampo’s name into the conversation shortly after the Italian chef’s sudden departure from their ITV show, Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip.
The restauranteur aimed a jibe at Gino’s expense when host Zoe Ball, 52, quizzed him on his opinions about the newest food trends taking social media by storm.
After rubbishing truffle oil, Zoe was keen to ask what Gordon thought of adding dried cranberries to sandwich recipes.
Gordon was instantly repulsed by the idea, exclaiming in response: “Agh, disgusting!”
“What are people thinking?” Zoe agreed with the Hell’s Kitchen star.
However, Gordon didn’t stop there, as he quipped: “What is that? Gino D’Acampo’s new line of Asda sandwiches?
“Is he that tight?” The British TV chef swiped, referencing Gino’s recent collaboration with Asda on a new supermarket range of his beloved Italian dishes.
Zoe burst into laughter over Gordon’s cheeky barb, before he continued to fume: “A dried cranberry? How disgusting! What a stupid idea.”
Zoe then took the opportunity to quiz Gordon on the future of his ITV series with Gino and First Dates star Fred.
She asked: “Speaking of your dear friend Gino D’Acampo, you and Fred, the three of you, the three musketeers, will you be out and about anywhere soon?”
“We’ve just come back from Spain. Yes, we were in Galicia and Marbella, yes – disaster,” Gordon chuckled in response.
“Really?” Zoe exclaimed, with Gordon explaining: “Oh my goodness, yeah, I woke up with both of them in my sleeping blanket!”

“Was that just fun or will we see it on the telly?” Zoe wondered.
Gordon told Radio 2 listeners: “Oh no, it’s coming out, new series in, I think, September.
“Everyone thinks it’s fun, but those guys are so lazy it’s extraordinary,” he joked.
Zoe then giggled: “I know, the little divas.”
Sharing an insight into what will be the last series featuring Gino as part of the trio, Gordon said: “It’s shocking! Fred’s trimming his beard and darkening it, and Gino’s putting more platforms in his shoes to look taller.”
“You three are so good together! It might be hell for you, but it’s brilliant for us to watch,” Zoe insisted.
It comes just a week after 46-year-old Gino explained he values his friendship with Gordon and Fred more than arguments that started to arise over contract differences for the ITV show.
He said in a social media video: “Last week, I decided not to film any more Gordon, Gino and Fred Road trips.
“The reason is simple, I mean nothing to do with Gordon or Fred, the friendship is very strong, we have known each other for many years.
“It’s just because we can’t get the dates together and sometimes when we do get the dates together sometimes they get changed and it causes a lot of problems for me because I have other stuff that I have to do.”
He continued: “Also, because contracts, contracts start to become very complicated then it becomes very stressful.
“I personally value the friendship with Gordon and Fred so much that I would rather the friendship than arguments with the contract.”
