Keith Flint embarked on a brand new career back in 2014 when he bought a pub down the road from his house and became a hands-on landlord.
The tragic Prodigy star, whose death aged 49 was confirmed today, stepped away from the music business to focus on his other passions in life.
After spending years as a party animal, Keith bought a pub in near his house in Essex.
He became landlord of The Leather Bottle in Pleshey, just north of Chelmsford, and delighted punters with his antics.
The venue featured a log fire and Keith was often the butt of his customers’ jokes as the couldn’t resist making Firestarter cracks every time he stoked the flames.
He started a special joke jar and made his punters hand over £1 every time they made a gag about his band’s hit song, according to Essex Live .
Keith was often seen drinking with his customers and was fiercely proud of his pub.
When the venue got a bad review on Tripadvisor, Keith would reply personally and defend his boozer.
When one reviewer described the pub as "awful", adding: "don’t let the fancy food fool you into thinking the chef can cook".
Keith replied: "Yeah… This is the very reason I don’t read reviews normally.
"It’s the same with anything like this. This is someone’s opinion, they’re entitled to it.
"I suppose that I’m in there enough to see happy faces and happy people, so the physical feedback is the only feedback I can take on board."
Another punter complained about the radio music and the service, prompting a hilarious response from Keith.
He wrote: "The thing is, if I’d been in there on the real ales or had a couple of Jagers inside of me, the radio will creep up…
"You can always tell who the landlord is because he’s at the end of the bar drinking halves, but he’s been there eight hours – he’s had about twelve halves."
However, the pub venture didn’t last and Keith eventually gave up the boozer.
He left it empty shortly before its lease was due to expire so new tenants could be found.
The pub has since re-opened.
Keith’s death was confirmed today and his Prodigy bandmate Liam Howlett later revealed the singer had taken his own life.
