Megan Thee Stallion has often shared how she juggles being a famous rapper and a college student.
The “Savage” rapper speaks to her audience about several essential things in her life. The 25-year-old shows her multiple dogs on social media and also discusses her love of anime.
Although Megan is transparent about her life outside of music, her fans might be wondering if Megan received her college degree at her Texas university yet.
Megan Thee Stallion’s college and major
Before she catapulted to fame with songs like “Big Ole Freak,” “Cash Sh*t,” and “Hot Girl Summer,” Megan attended classes at Prairie A&M University in her hometown, Houston, Texas. Megan went to Prairie to study healthcare administration but was still pursuing her rap career when she didn’t physically go to school.
In a 2018 interview with Billboard, Megan opened up about how Megan managed work and established a name for herself in the rap industry. Megan admitted she faced some challenges along the way and often looked to other students who knew about her career for help.
“I’m still in school, and at first, I’m not going to lie, it was kind of easy because I wasn’t so booked,” Megan shared. “I only have to go to school two days out of the week, but I’m there all day long. But now that I have something to do almost every day, it is pretty difficult. So I’m just doing my best. I’m trying to tell my classmates, ‘Look y’all, send me my homework.”’

After Megan’s career skyrocketed in 2019, she admitted on Instagram that she faced challenges of getting her work done and juggling her plethora of performances. Megan caused an uproar on Twitter after she revealed Megan had a 2.7 GPA during one semester of being a star and a part-time student at Texas Southern University.
In June 2020, Megan shared with People that she’s still working toward her college degree. Megan told the outlet that once she’s completed her courses and is ready to graduate, she plans on having a massive graduation bash to celebrate. The “WAP” performer also said her late mother, Holly Thomas, and her grandmother play a significant role in her reason for staying in school despite her massive achievements.
“I want to get my degree because I really want my mom to be proud,” Megan said. “She saw me going to school before she passed. I want my big mama to be proud. She saw me going to school before she passed. My grandmother that’s still alive, used to be a teacher, so she’s on my butt about finishing school. I’m doing it for me, but I’m also doing it for the women in my family who made me who I am today.”

Megan shared that while many artists her caliber would forego their college education for fame, Megan is passionate about earning her college degree. In addition to obtaining her healthcare administration degree, Megan said she plans on opening up several assisted living homes in Houston. Megan said she also wants to hire her classmates to work in the houses while working on her music after graduation.
Megan told People that watching her family work hard while growing up created the work ethic she has today. Megan said her mother and grandmother provided for her “every single day,” and never showed Megan when they went through hard times.”
“I’ve always seen everybody in my life be independent,” Megan recalled. “My daddy passed away when I was 15, so my mama was still going hard taking care of us. If we were going through money problems, my mother and my two [maternal] grandmothers always made sure I didn’t know. We could’ve been struggling, but they made it work. I’ve always seen strong women making it work, so I’ve always wanted to have that same drive the women in my family have. I know I get a lot of my strength from my mother and both of my grandmothers.”
