Janet Jackson Shares Trailer For Upcoming Documentary

Janet Jackson recently shared a new three-minute trailer for her upcoming documentary JANET.

The trailer features interview segments with Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey, Q-Tip, Janelle Monáe, Teyana Taylor, Tyler Perry and others.

The four-hour biographical documentary is scheduled to air on A&E and Lifetime in January in two episodes. The first part will air on January 28, on the 40th anniversary of Jackson’s 1982 self-titled debut album.

The Ben Hirsh-directed docufilm is produced by Lifetime and A&E and co-produced by Associated Entertainment Corporation. Janet Jackson and brother Randy Jackson are the executive producers.

Lifetime and A&E announced the documentary in September, along with a brief teaser.

The teaser includes concert footage, some footage from her childhood showing late brother Michael Jackson and late father Joe Jackson, behind-the-scenes looks at Jackson’s life, old home movies, and interviews featuring Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott and Paula Abdul, among others.

Meanwhile, in November, FX and Hulu aired a New York Times Presents documentary titled Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson.

The film focused on the the infamous incident that saw Justin Timberlake briefly exposing Jackson’s breast to millions of viewers during their surprise duet of “Rock Your Body” during the Super Bowl halftime show.
