Jennifer Lopez reveals how she maintains her amazing age-defying figure

Superstar Jennifer Lopez has vowed to keep up her workouts to avoid “going downhill” in her 50s.

Although the toned 49-year-old US actress and singer says she no longer gets up at 5am to go to the gym, she insisted: “I don’t want to plateau. I work out three times a week, hot yoga and dancing. I keep it up.”

J-Lo, who has dated ex-­baseball star Alex Rodriguez, 43, for almost two years, told Red magazine that to find happiness she had to work out why she got into unfulfilling relationships.

The three-times-married mum of twins explained: “I finally realised, I need to understand my own worth and value. I grew up with the fairy tale, ‘a prince is going to save you’, ‘wait for true love that’s what makes you happy’, ‘If you’re not married, you’re not happy.’

“Well, let me tell you, my daughter is aeons above me already. When she said when she was eight, ‘I don’t know if I want to get married, mommy,’ I was like ‘Yes!’ Jennifer, 50 in July, added: “Once I had my kids, I searched religion, self-help, meditation, yoga, different workouts, trying to find, how do I be the best me?”

Discussing the importance of having a like-minded partner, she said: “Alex and I are Latino. We have the same work ethic.

“We also know coming from nothing, we always want to try to help and give back and teach our kids that.” The March issue of Red is on sale from January 30.
