The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the arrival of the newborn royal baby on Monday, asking those who wished to send them gifts to instead donate to charity.
However, there has been much speculation over whether Prince Harry will break their rule and opt to buy a fancy push present for his wife Meghan Markle after gushing that watching her give birth "beyond comprehension".
Push presents have become popular in recent years, with Prince William reportedly gifting Kate Middleton a white gold eternity ring worth £820 when she gave birth to Prince George.
Kate acquired another piece of jewellery widely believed to be a gift from Will after Princess Charlotte's birth, sporting a pair of green tourmaline, amethyst and diamond earrings especially designed by Kiki McDonough.
McDonough is said to be Kate's favourite designer, and the earrings have been valued at around £2,600.
While the couple have never confirmed it, Kate's citrine ring is also suspected to be a push present to honour Prince Louis' birth in April 2018.
But will Harry follow in his brother's footsteps and give his wife a gift following the birth of their son?
According to Andrew Brown, CEO of WP Diamonds – a leading purchaser of diamonds, fine jewellery and luxury watches – there are several options the Prince may choose if he does follow suit.
Citing birthstone jewellery as a key trend, Brown said that we might well see Meghan sporting an emerald ring or bracelet when she appears for the first time following the birth.
"Later than expected, the Royal baby arrived in May, which features an emerald birthstone. Harry might opt to design a piece featuring this birthstone," he said.
Emerald jewellery also symbolise love, rebirth and fertility, making them the perfect gift for new mum Meghan.
However, Harry may wish to opt for a tourmaline stone instead, in tribute to his late mother, Princess Diana.
Should Harry's gift intend to make a nod to his family, Meghan could also end up with a pair of pearl earrings, a favourite of his grandmother, The Queen.
He added: "A pair of mother-of-pearl earrings would be a beautiful way for Harry to honour his grandmother after the birth of her newest royal descendant."
Finally, while Meghan already has a Cartier French Tank watch, Brown also suggests that getting a new one engraved would be a good way to pay tribute to their newborn's arrival.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether Meghan will step out with a new item of jewellery on Wednesday, but eagle eyed fans will be sure to notice if she does.
