Johnny Vegas left a fan wondering if he had been using hair dye as his tresses were noticeably a darker colour to his beard. The comedian shared a picture of himself after a Twitter user revealed they had named a dog, who is up for adoption, after him.
The 50-year-old replied to the post with a picture of himself attempting to do the same pose as the dog.
He replied: “But he looks nothing like me. Thank you all for rescuing Johnny, Denise. Sincerely hope someone can give him the home he so dearly deserves.
“Wish my work and other commitments meant I could have him myself x.”
After another picture of the dog was shared, Johnny followed up his post, writing: “Nah, still don’t see it @Penningt1Denise @OakwoodRescue x.”
One of his fans was quick to notice his dark hair, as they asked: “Are you using ‘just for men’ now,” followed by crying with laughter emojis.
He replied: “Nah just a dark filter,” alongside a winking face.
Other Twitter users flocked to his post to share their thoughts.
One joked: “Album cover picture?”
“I can definitely see similarities,” a second commented.
A third joked: “Are we adopting Johnny or the dog?”
He replied: “Either or.
“Preferably Johnny the dog, I’m not house trained and prefer taxis to walkies.”

Johnny will return to screens tonight as part of new series Cooking with the Stars.
Each of the celebrity contestants are paired with a professional chef who will mentor and teach them to prepare restaurant quality dishes.
In the first episode, Johnny, McFly’s Harry Judd, Shirley Ballas and Naughty Boy take part.
Other celebrities include Denise Van Outen, Catherine Tyldesley and AJ Odudu.
Host Emma Willis recently insisted that Johnny’s culinary skills were not the best as she revealed he had cut himself.
She spilled: “Johnny Vegas cut himself at the start and Shirley too, and Denise can’t use sharp knives, so she used blunt knives for everything.”
And the comedian wasn’t the only participant to have troubles in the kitchen.
She added: “Harry Judd cut himself within the first two minutes – the first chop he made he took the end of his little finger off.”
“He did his cooking kind of racing towards the end, adrenalin pumping, plated everything up, kind of stood back and he just took it all in.”
Cooking With The Stars airs tonight at 9pm on ITV.
