Justin Bieber's Christmas Gift to His Fans Is an Intimate Pic of Him and Hailey Bieber

No one can go far in show business without giving their fans what they want. Justin Bieber has been a major celebrity for over a decade, so he knows what his fans want. The pop sensation recently posted an intimate image of himself and his wife, Haley Bieber, to Instagram for the holidays. Here’s what he had to say – and how Bieber’s approach to the holiday season evolved over time.

Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber enjoy the holidays their way

According to Yahoo, Beiber posted a black-and-white image of himself to Instagram. It looks like a scene out of the acclaimed documentary Madonna: Truth or Dare. The picture shows Bieber shirtless and holding onto his wife, who is depicted sitting on a counter.  Fans get to see a lot of Bieber’s back and tattoos, as well as his Calvin Klein briefs.

The prominence of the briefs in the image was obviously intentional. Why? Because Bieber captioned the image “My gift this year @haileybieber #mycalvins.”

The caption is certainly interesting. The way it’s written, it’s not clear if the gift in question is Mrs. Bieber or Calvin Klein underwear. Maybe Beiber is saying that he is a gift to his wife.

The caption is vaguely holiday-themed, but the image itself doesn’t include any imagery reminiscent of a winter holiday. This is interesting, as Bieber seems to have made Christmas a bigger part of his brand than most of his pop contemporaries.

Justin Bieber and Christmas – a history

This isn’t the first time Bieber gave his fans a gift for the holiday season, reports People. In 2015, he released a shirtless video of himself decorating a Christmas tree set to “Jingle Bell Rock.” His earlier Christmas efforts were a little more childlike.

Alongside fellow former child star Ariana Grande, he’s also one of the few pop stars of his generation who has recorded a Christmas album. Pop stars from earlier generations like Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby, and Mariah Carey each managed to make Christmas songs some of their most lasting hits. For whatever reason, the stars of the 2010s are reluctant to record Christmas-themed singles, much less Christmas-themed albums.

The inspiration behind ‘Under the Mistletoe’

Bieber’s Christmas album is called Under the Mistletoe. The most famous song from that album, “Mistletoe” was an innocent love song. According to MTV News, the album also included covers of Bieber’s favorite Christmas classics like “Silent Night” and “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.”

Bieber also spoke at length about the inspiration behind Under the Mistletoe. The album was inspired by Santa Claus, reindeer, and Christmas cookies. To help themselves get into the spirit of the holiday, Bieber and company had Christmas cookies in the studio, even though they were recording the album in August and September. The influences behind the album are incredibly cute and wholesome, fitting for the pre-teen image Bieber had at the time.

Like all pop stars with long careers, Bieber has evolved. Just as his music changed, so has his manner of celebrating the holiday season. For some, his Yuletide shirtlessness is a little odd. For others, it’s just what they’ve been wishing for.
