Kerry Katona apologises to Molly Mae after calling baby Bambi ‘ridiculous’

Kerry Katona has issued a public apology to Molly-Mae Hague after she branded her daughter Bambi's name "ridiculous".

Former Atomic Kitten star had written in her weekly column for New Magazine that, whilst it was lovely news that Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury had welcomed their first child, she was "not a fan of the name".

She wrote: "I think Bambi Fury sounds a bit ridiculous. It reminds me of the Disney film where the mother gets shot! The poor kid might get some stick in school."

Kerry then added: "If they haven’t registered the name yet, maybe they should consider changing it. But each to their own…"

But it seems that Kerry is feeling bad for her comments on the name, as she took to her Instagram, where she tagged Molly-Mae and said: "So I just want to say a massive apology to Molly-Mae because I saw my column the other day and I think I'm dead funny but I'm actually not always that funny."

She continued: "Molly-Mae shouldn't listen to anything I've got to say whatsoever.

"Bambi Fury, first of all, no one is ever going to forget the name. It sounds like a star's name. It's unique, it's beautiful. It's very very cute actually, and you shorten it by calling her Bam Bams."

Kerry went on: "My opinion doesn't matter at all" as she said "when I read it [the column] back, it came across as really harsh – it's a little baby for God's sake, Kerry!"

She concluded: "I thought I was being funny but I wasn't, so I hold my hands up and I just want to apologise massively. It's not up to me what you call your baby, Molly, and she's absolutely beautiful."

Kerry took back to her stories later to say that the situation had been "playing on my mind" after reading her column and realising what she said sounded "harsh" and that her comments "didn't come across very well".

She said that she would "never want to bring anybody down" and would never want to "bully anybody or hurt anybody".

Kerry even went on to poke fun at herself, as she said that her son Max's full name is "b****y Max Clifford," the name of her former publicist, a convicted sex offender, who died in 2017.

Molly-Mae also opened up on the "nasty" backlash she received after announcing Bambi's unusual moniker on Instagram, as she was forced to turn off the comments on the post, just minutes after it went up online.

On a YouTube video, she said that the day she and Tommy announced her name was "a really really hard day" with the backlash against it.
