Louise Minchin, 52, is a regular alongside her co-presenter Dan Walker, 44, on BBC Breakfast. The broadcaster has since spoken out about only meeting former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, 55, on one occassion, as the mum-of-two admitted she addressed the news anchor’s Breakfast show dig.

It’s not news to viewers that Dan and Piers often have an intense rivalry other presenters can’t match, as they both chair morning breakfast shows, although the latter recently left his regular slot on ITV.

It comes after Piers refused to apologise over his comments about Meghan Markle during her explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey last month and has since stepped down from his presenting role.

Louise has opened up about the morning show’s ratings rivalry where viewers often witnessed Piers and Dan go back and forth on social media.

The Breakfast host confessed she had no intentions of getting involved in the pair’s cheeky feud but dished on a moment she came face-to-face with the ex-GMB presenter.

Speaking in a new interview, Louise said: “Competiton with Good Morning Britain is healthy.

“I certainly didn’t get involved the way Dan did with [Piers Morgan] as it is not my thing.”

The small-screen star admitted that when she met the former GMB host she informed him of the Breakfast show’s loyal fanbase.

“I’ve only met Piers once and I told him we have a very loyal audience,” Louise continued to MyWeekly magazine.

She added: “We have six million tuning in every day.”

Piers recently took aim at Dan since the pair went up against each other on TV.

It comes after the former GMB host had his say on being branded “a decent bloke fighting to get out” by the Breakfast presenter.

Writing in his MailOnline column, Piers penned: “My supremely virtuous former breakfast TV show rival Dan ‘Halo’ Walker said about me: ‘Underneath all the froth, I think there is a decent bloke fighting to get out.’

“Ironically, I’ve always thought that underneath all Dan’s faux saintly froth, there’s a nasty piece of work fighting to get out.”

The father-of-four then went on to discuss GMB finally triumphing over Breakfast.

He continued: “The one thing guaranteed to have him stamping on kittens is the knowledge that GMB finally overtook BBC Breakfast in the ratings, on his watch, on my last day.”

Dan recently took a swipe at Piers after his GMB exit as he offered him a seat on the Breakfast sofa.

Meanwhile, Louise also gushed over her co-star Dan who she branded her “slightly naughty younger brother”.

She said: “We are like a family on BBC Breakfast. We’ve got each other’s backs and we are friends on and off screen.

“Dan is like my slightly naughty younger brother!”
