Megan Barton-Hanson slammed recent Love Island stars, accusing them of “ruining the show” by playing it too safe.
Megan, who has recently confirmed her romance with Demi Jones, appeared on the ITV dating show in 2018 with Dani Dyer, Laura Anderson, Jack Fincham, and Jack Fowler.
Since appearing on the show, Megan, 29, has made the jump into the adult entertainment industry and is now reportedly bringing in a staggering £800,000 a month.
But the blonde bombshell has taken issue with the most recent batch of contestants who she said were trying to emulate the career trajectory of former contestants like Molly-Mae Hague.
Speaking to The Sun, Megan argued: “I did watch Love Island this year. Everyone is being too safe. They want to sit on the fence and not offend anyone or steal anyone's boyfriend.
"Think that because people like Molly-Mae have gone on to make billions of pounds, people are being too sensible because they want to be liked.”
Megan continued to explain that previous instalments of the show saw contestants be more “ruthless” as they attempted to come out on top.
She also believes that the solution could be fresh perspectives and a new format like middle-aged people or an LGBTQ+ edition.
This year’s version of the show, which wrapped last month and saw Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan arise victorious, was relatively quiet compared to earlier seasons.
The fact was not missed by fans, many of which argued that it seemed overproduced and superscripted.
“Me running to watch the love island final knowing we are saying goodbye to the most boring season ever,” one person wrote.
Another person said: “Can we just fast forward to who the winners are and be done with this BORING season #LoveIsland,' pleaded another fan.”
Fans even thought that Love Island Unseen Bits was boring, while others praised TikTok farmer Will Young for carrying the entire series.
Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: “Why are some of them so dry like it’s unseen bits where’s your personality.”
Another said: “The old #LoveIsland was so much better because 1) smoking area 2) all the stuff they put in unseen bits now was just in the f**king episode.
"They would have enough time if they didn’t do those stupid dramatic pauses now 3) everyone being so SERIOUS all the time.”
“Lmaoo I always skip unseen bits ngl,” a fourth said, as another added: “This year’s #LoveIsland is so dull even #unseenBits is putting me to sleep.”
