Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ Is Climbing The Charts

Mariah Carey‘s seasonal smash hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” has become the highest-charting Billboard Hot 100 Holiday hit in 60 years.

The song has climbed from the No. 7 position on the chart to No. 6 on the chart dated December 22.

David Seville & The Chipmunks‘ 1958 single, “The Chipmunk Song,” remains the only top-charting song of the season ahead of the 1994 carol.

In 1958, the inaugural year of the Billboard Hot 100, “The Chipmunk Song” topped the chart for four weeks from December 22.

Carey’s Christmas classic has reached the top 10 twice since its release in 1994.

And now it has surpassed Christmas-season songs by Kenny G and New Kids on the Block.

“All I Want for Christmas Is You” is a song from Carey’s 1994 holiday album Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas took the top spot on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart last week.
