The stars of Broadway musical “Mean Girls” lived up to their show’s name on Monday night when they attended a party for Lindsay Lohan — who starred in the original 2004 hit film — and were overheard dissing the actress behind her back!
Ashley Park, who plays Gretchen Wieners onstage, and Barrett Wilbert Weed, who plays Janis Sarkisian, were overheard joking with their friends about Lohan in the elevator heading up to the Moxy hotel’s Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge for the premiere party for Lohan’s MTV show, “Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club.”
“They were all talking about tattoos in the elevator,” said a witness. “And one of them said something like, ‘I bet Lindsay has a tat of a club bracelet.’ And then another one goes, ‘Yeah! Like the kind you can only see in fluorescent light.’ ”
Ouch — get out the burn book. But perhaps they were still in character from the show?
Our source added, “It seemed like a lighthearted joke.”
Once inside the party, the “Mean Girls” cast seemed to get along with Lohan to her face. The Broadway stars were spotted posing with LiLo on the red carpet.
A source said, “They were so nice and invited her to come by the show and even participate.”
Reps for the show did not return multiple requests for comment. A rep for star-turned- hospitality-entrepreneur Lohan said of the cast’s comments, “Truly not funny,” and, “They are the real mean girls.”
Lohan’s new reality series debuted this week and follows her as the boss of a string of new hot spots in Greece. The former wild child told us at the show’s premiere party of her new role as an entrepreneur: “I’m running three clubs and we’re doing a fourth, so it’s a lot of work and I don’t have time to go out at night.”
“Mean Girls,” with a book by Tina Fey, has been a smash on Broadway since it opened in 2018, but it was shut out at the Tonys.
