New skincare products promise to make your skin look younger in a week

It's all well and good trying out a new skincare regime that promises to deliver results after a few months of using it religiously – but what if you want to see results right now?

Luckily there are new products launching left, right and centre that promise to give your skin an anti-ageing fix in a week, instead of the typical eight.

Whether that's an instant de-puffing of under-eye bags, smoothing crows' feet or plumping up the general look of your complexion, you can bet there's a product that claims to do that in record breaking time.

So, what happened when we got testers to try out the new quick skincare fixes?

Find out…

Flash firming fix

No7 Laboratories Firming Booster Serum, £38

This comes with a jaw-dropping (or rather jaw-lifting) claim: skin that’s lifted, toned and tighter in just one week.

It contains four times more of the firming complex used in any other No7 serum, and 79% of testers saw tauter skin in seven days.

Our tester says: ‘I was amazed by this. I used it twice a day, and after a week I could see and feel my jawline was tighter and  firmer. I didn’t change anything else, so it must have been down to this. I’ll keep using this!’

Healthy glow in a jar

IT Cosmetics Confidence In A Cream Rosy Tone, £39

A multi-tasking moisturiser promising to instantly pep up ageing skin.

There are exfoliants to lift off dulling dead cells, a cocktail of skin quenchers and rosy pigments for hiding fatigue.

Our tester says: ‘The tint is subtle, once it’s rubbed in there’s more of a sheen than an actual colour, but that gives a slightly less knackered look. I’ve used it for a few weeks now and am liking how my skin seems brighter and more springy.’

One-week plump prescription

L’Oréal Revitalift 7 Day Cure Replumping Ampoules, £19.99

A crash course to plump up skin in a week.

It comes as seven little ampoules of pure hyaluronic acid you crack open and rub in before any other skin products.

L’Oréal promises tighter, more supple skin after the very first application, and big results in a week.

Our tester says: ‘I took good care to rub this non-oily serum into every bit of my face every morning, and as the week went by I really did notice a difference in the feel and look of my skin. It was improved so much by the end that when I met up with a friend she texted me the next day saying she thought I was looking fab – and asked if I’d had any fillers!’

Speedy spa results

Peter Thomas Roth Hungarian Thermal Water Heat Mask, £45

Made using rejuvenating thermal spring waters, this mask promises an immediate spa-like glow.

It heats up with a splash of cool water, opening pores and getting max absorption of all the botanical goodies.

Our tester says: ‘The mask felt quite grainy, and although the heat was an odd sensation it wasn’t unpleasant. Once it cooled I could wash it off. The idea is the warmth draws out impurities to make skin look instantly fresher, which it really did.’

Instant effects guaranteed

NSpa First Signs Of Ageing, from £8

A supermarket range with an impressive pledge – get an immediate difference to first signs of ageing or your money back.

It’s sold exclusively at Asda, and has a serum, £12,‘dermatologically proven to soften wrinkles in 5 minutes’, a day cream, £10, that doubles as a line-blurring primer, and an eye cream which claims to soften crows’ feet from the get-go.

Our tester says: ‘I did notice an instant difference, but the plumping effect on fine lines faded after a couple of hours. I used the products twice a day and noticed my skin felt smoother. I would recommend it for this price.’

Express eye patches

Sesderma C-Vit Eye Contour Patches,
£14.99 for five

These ‘eyelift patches’ are a bestseller in Spain and now they’re in the UK.

You’re meant to see a visible improvement in bags, dark circles, crows’ feet and signs of eye fatigue after popping them on for just 15 minutes.

Our tester says: ‘When I put the patches on, I felt a tingly sensation, which was alarming. I was relieved to see there was no adverse effect when it was time to remove them 15 mins later. My skin felt tighter instantly, and it perhaps looked a bit tighter too, but it only lasted a few hours. After finishing the pack I can’t say I saw a massive difference to my dark circles or wrinkles around my eyes.’

Supercharged vit C

Avon ANEW Vitamin C Radiance Maximising Serum, £20

This supercharged serum contains a hefty 10% vit C and claims to transform skin after just one use – 99% of their trial testers agreed it gave a radiance boost.

Our tester says: ‘This feels quite sticky for a really long time, for hours in fact, and if you lick your lips it tastes gross, but I loved it on my skin! It really felt like it gave my skin a long drink of water and added some great glow straight away. Going to keep using it.'

Rapid retinol

Estée Lauder Perfectionist Pro Rapid Renewal Retinol Treatment, £63

It takes weeks to get the full results of retinol, but this version combines it with actives for instant gratification.

In tests, 91% said skin was softer right away, and after eight weeks 90% saw fewer wrinkles and more even skin tone.

Our tester says: ‘Potent stuff, so you have to use it sparingly, avoiding the eye area (a mate tried it too, made the mistake of slathering it on everywhere and got a mild reaction). I put on a pea-sized amount as advised, and noticed a smoother, “resurfaced” feel the next morning. I didn’t have any sensitivity, so I’m using it nightly and hoping to be less wrinkly in a couple of months.’
