Eighteen weeks today since I caught Covid & still got zero smell, little taste & zombie-like energy levels

Piers Morgan

“Anyone else had this long covid cr*p and found any miracle cures?

“The Christmas season beckons and as things stand, I’ll be as much fun as one of Prince Harry’s sermons.”

In spite of his malaise, the controversial and fiercely opinionated TV personality is still taking aim at the royal and his wife Meghan Markle, summoning up the strength to call the couple’s behaviour “repulsive” in recent quotes.

He was clearly on form while watching the latter’s recent interview with Ellen DeGeneres, branding the pair’s exchange “faux humble shmaltz”.

However, behind the scenes, it looks as though his lingering coronavirus symptoms show no signs of abating.

One cheeky Twitter user, averagejoe33, advised him to take advantage of his lack of taste to remove any unhealthy snacks from his diet that he might, under different circumstances, have been tempted to indulge in.

“You lost any weight?” he questioned.

“I reckon I’d eat really healthily if I couldn’t taste good stuff. No point eating the tasty stuff if you can’t taste it!”

The reply from Piers implied he’d already tried that technique, lamenting that he’d lost “four kilos” in weight and is “wasting away”.

However, he has kept the lively commentary coming on Twitter in relation to current showbiz news, having jokingly assured Meghan that he is “available” for an interview with her.

However, she is unlikely to accept, as Piers has been famously scathing towards her since her marriage to Prince Harry.

He also had some controversial thoughts yesterday regarding the ITV show An Audience With Adele.

He tweeted: “If I was at this #AnAudienceWithAdele, I’d ask her two questions.

“1) Does the unctuous sycophancy from your celebrity fans make you want to vomit?

“2) How come you’re singing more perfectly ‘live’ than on your records?”

He added jokingly: “* This probably explains why I wasn’t invited.”

Twitter user John Blatt fired back in Adele’s defence: “You weren’t invited because you a nobody! [sic] So off you trot again and go and crawl under your stone.”

Piers delivered a dose of his trademark sarcasm in response, assuring the angry respondent: “Given I have 7.9 million more followers than you, I’d steer clear of playing the ‘nobody’ card.”

He also shared that he was glad not to have been at the showbiz event, having anticipated “hours and hours” of waiting around, in the presence of celebrities he would “travel continents to avoid”.

Plus, when another less than sympathetic Twitter user, pigsyspark, taunted: “You forget nobody likes you Piers”, he had a retort ready.

“Everybody likes me, Pig – just some people are in denial,” he tweeted.
