R. Kelly‘s dramatic interview with Gayle King was all just an act – because he’s a “great performer, on and off the stage,” one of his alleged victims believes.
Asante McGee, who dated the “Ignition” singer from 2014 to 2016 after meeting at a club, said she wasn’t surprised by her ex’s explosive outburst during the CBS sit-down that aired this week.
“I knew he would cry at the drop of a dime. He is a great performer – on and off the stage,” McGee told CBS.
Still, she said she was “terrified” when he began pounding his chest and screaming into the camera that he “didn’t do this stuff.”
“When he started screaming, I immediately turned the TV because again I felt like I was revisiting him yelling at me,” McGee said.
She was among several alleged Kelly victims who spoke out in the docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly,” in which she described being forced to perform sex acts in what was known as the “black room.”
Another accuser, Kitti Jones, told CBS that she wasn’t surprised that Kelly claimed the women were lying about the decades of sexual abuse allegations.
“He thinks in his mind, that we’ve all conspired together to take him down and the truth is, it just became a domino effect,” said Jones, who claims Kelly physically abused her when they dated from 2011 to 2013.
