Rapper’s concerning ‘suicide’ message to fans leaves them frantic with worry

American rapper CupcakKe has been hospitalised hours after tweeting a worrying message about suicide.

The 21-year-old Chicago-born musician – real name Elizabeth Eden Harris – sparked concern in the early hours of Tuesday morning when she tweeted: "im about to commit suicide."

Amid mounting concern about CupcakKe’s welfare, her friend Elijah Daniel said his messages to her weren’t being read and he didn’t know whether she’d turned her phone off.

"Anyone who knows elizabeth please please please check on her my texts to her sent green idk if her phone is off but if you have her address please check on her ???????" he tweeted.

He reached out to her mum and her friend Charlie XCX in a desperate bid to track her down, after a fan said her UK tour dates had been delayed, meaning she was more likely to be back in Chicago.

After several hours of frantic searching, Chicago Police Department confirmed it was sending officers to Elizabeth’s home to do a welfare check.

An hour later, police confirmed they had found the young rapper and taken her to hospital, but wouldn’t give Elijah any other information.

"The only information they could give me was that she was taken to the hospital," he told a concerned follower.

"ive never felt so relieved and sad at the same time, CupcakKe_rapper i love you more than you’ll ever know. you’re one of the sweetest souls ive ever had the pleasure of knowing, and you’re not leaving us. we won’t let it happen."

He added: "Send CupcakKe_rapper all ur love, she deserves it."

CupcakKe’s team is yet to remove her worrying tweet, which has since been inundated with fans posting links about preventing anxiety attacks and suicide hotlines.

The rapper has been active since 2012, building up her fanbase by releasing her music online, and has released three albums – Audacious in 2016, Queen Elizabitch in 2018 and Ephorize in 2018 – since then.

She’s known for her strong pro-LGBT stance and for female empowerment through her hyper-sexualised lyrics, having been to school with other well established Chicago rappers including Chief Keef and Lil Reese.

CupcakKe is due to appear in the UK and Ireland for her Eden tour in March. Tickets are currently on sale for each of her five dates, in Glasgow, Dublin, London, Birmingham and Manchester.

Mirror Online has contacted Elizabeth’s team for an update.
