RylanClark-Neal split from his husband Dan Neal back in May and later admitted to “making a number of mistakes” in their marriage. Last night, the 32-year-old stepped out at the Attitude Awards 2021 in London, his first big event since his separation hit the headlines.

Last night, the presenter took to the stage to present Steps with the Icon award.

The event benefits the Attitude Magazine Foundation, which raises money for LGBT causes.

Ahead of handing over the gong, he showed just how much he values his friendship with Claire Richards, 44, in an emotional speech.

On stage, he told the crowd: “On a personal level, one of the members of this band is like my big sister.

“Over the past four months, probably for the toughest time in my life, she’s been there for me and without her, I probably wouldn’t be giving this award out tonight.”

Poking fun at his newly single life, he went on to say that he was “distracted” on his phone as he tried to download the dating app Grindr.

“What a year, I’m genuinely thrilled to be here,” he added, according to The Sun.

Rylan was accompanied at the event by his close friend Lucy Spraggan.

The pair were seen arriving hand-in-hand as they made their way onto the red carpet.

Rylan took a career break earlier this year amid speculation he was having marital issues.

He later released a statement revealing he had “made a number of mistakes which I deeply regret”.

Such mistakes, he admitted, led to the “breakdown” of his marriage.

A source has since claimed that the couple are heading for a divorce.

They told the Mail Online: “Things were looking so good, like they were back together.

The source added: “Many around them were desperately hoping they could win the battle to save their relationship. It’s very sad.”

Rylan and Dan met back in 2013 and tied the knot two years later.

Guests at their wedding in Braxted Park in Essex included This Morning stars Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.

After their big day, they made history by becoming the first gay couple to present the ITV show.
