Sophie Turner, 23, has grown up on the show having been a part of Game of Thrones since it first began in 2011.
Over the years, fans of the HBO series have seen Sophie’s character, Sansa Stark, grow into an outspoken leader, compared to the grovelling innocent child she once was.
Addressing her journey, Sophie admitted she believes Sansa is the most underrated character on Game of Thrones.
Speaking to British Vogue, the British actress spilled: “She’s such an underdog. No one suspects her.”
She’s such an underdog. No one suspects her.
The star also said she’s not surprised how much Sansa has changed over the years, through the horrific ordeals she has faced to learning to deal with Cersei Lannister (played by Lena Headey.
“A lot of people have been surprised by Sansa’s character development, but not me,” she divulged.
“She’s always been good at adapting, and pretending, and manipulating everyone around her by not saying anything.
“And that was her real saving grace – because if she had spoken out against Prince Joffrey or Cersei or Little Finger even, she would have had her head cut off.”
Praising Sansa, Sophie continued: “So, her power was in her silence.
“It was only when she got her power back at Winterfell that she became a leader and got her revenge.”
The star added: “She’s smart and manipulative and learned from the best.”
Having played the Stark sibling for almost a decade, Sophie admitted there are many qualities she has taken away and admired of Sansa.
“It sounds cheesy, but it’s how she’s able to get back up on her feet after everything she’s endured,” she said.
“How motivation to stay alive and protect her family has kept her going through years of torture and abuse. Everyone can look up to her strength.”
Meanwhile, the final ever episode of Game of Thrones will air tonight, with many hoping Sansa will end up on the Iron Throne.
Fans have flocked to Twitter to share how they believe the series will end with one person writing: “I’m calling it, Sansa Stark will be the one, to sit on the Iron Throne.”
Another wrote: “#SansaStark and #TyrionLannister will both sit at the now semi-melted Iron Throne as the new rulers of Seven Kingdoms. #DavosSeaworth will become the new Hand of the King and #Brienne the head of the Queensguard.”
A third said: “Maybe #SansaStark is going down south to put #Daenerys out of her reign and claim #JonSnow the Iron Throne. But then Jon would refuse and kill himself.”
One Sansa fan said: “I honestly wouldn’t mind seeing Sansa Stark on the Iron Throne.”
Game of Thrones concludes at 9pm tonight on HBO and is simulcast on Sky at 2am.
