Streaming Of Little Richard Songs Spikes After Legend’s Death

Streaming of Rock & Roll icon Little Richard‘s songs witnessed a significant increase following the singer’s death.

Little Richard died due to bone cancer on Saturday, May 9, in Tullahoma, Tennessee. He was 87 years old. Little Richard is popular for several hits, including “Tutti Frutti,” “Long Tall Sally,” “Rip It Up,” “Lucille” and “Good Golly Miss Molly”.

On May 9-10, Little Richard’s catalog recorded 4.1 million on-demand U.S. streams, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. This represents an increase of 2,228% compared to the previous two days, during which his songs were streamed 175,000 times.

“Tutti Frutti” earned 412,000 streams on May 9-10, up 1,210% from 32,000 on May 7-8. “Good Golly Miss Molly” garnered 367,000 streams on May 9-10, up 985%, while “Long Tail Sally” recorded 255,000 streams, up 1,056%.
