Former Strictly Come Dancing star Kevin Clifton, 38, took to Instagram to share the motivating post with fans. The Waltham-born dance professional who won the 16th series of the BBC favourite show, posted the quote about “celebrating your wins” and being “proud” of how far you’ve come, after previously sharing details about his struggle to make it as a dancer which included sleeping in his car to save on rent.
Have you ever been guilty of this? I certainly have in the past
Kevin shared the post with his 359,000 fans.
It read: “Avoid downplaying your success to make others comfortable.
“You worked hard for it.”
The post ended: “Celebrate your wins, be proud of how far you have come.”
The beau of former Strictly winner Stacey Dooley, 34, directed his caption to his followers where he admitted to “downplaying” his success in the past.
He wrote: “Have you ever been guilty of this? I certainly have in the past.
“But it’s ok to be proud of yourself and we should surround ourselves with people who will celebrate our wins and be happy for us.”
Fellow Strictly professional Oti Mabeuse liked the post and commented with four applauding hands emojis.
The former Strictly Come Dancing professional has often spoken of his struggles to get where he is today on his self-titled podcast.
He said: “I’ve talked openly about how I used to live in my car when I was a young dancer.
“I didn’t want to keep asking my mum and dad for money, I could barely earn much money and dance lessons were expensive.

“To save on rent, I used to live in my Ford Fiesta for a while and get up and shower and brush my teeth in the dance studio and then have more lessons and keep practising.”
On another episode of his podcast, The Kevin Clifton Show, the Strictly star previously spoke to dancer Anya Garnis how his “prices have gone up” after finding fame on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The dance professional compared his line of work to that of artist Pablo Picasso, justifying his price hike by saying that he had put a lot of “effort, money and time” into his dancing.
Kevin went on to reveal his prices had left a fan furious.
He said: “I was on Strictly by this point and someone asked me to come and do a show at their dance school.
“And you know, you charge whatever it is that we charge for doing shows and my prices have gone up in the last few years because I was on Strictly.”
He continued: “This guy, like, he sort of judges on the Sunday circuit, he kicked up such a fuss on Facebook [saying], ‘These people, they forget where they come from, they forget the people that made them.’
“I’m like, ‘Sorry, you didn’t make me, I put a lot of effort and money and time into this’,” Kevin hit back.
