Suits renewed for ninth and final season… a year after Meghan Markle’s departure to marry Prince Harry
The critically-acclaimed legal series, Suits, has been renewed for it’s ninth and final season.
USA Network announced it had renewed the show just before the premiere of the back half of season eight, according to Variety.
In a statement, USA Network and SYFY president Chris McCumber thanked the Suits family for their long-term dedication to the show.

‘”Suits” has played an instrumental role in our network’s DNA for nearly a decade,’ he said.

The smart series about a group of corporate lawyers premiered in 2011 and currently stars Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, Wendell Pierce, Sarah Rafferty, Katherine Heigl, and Amanda Schull.
Gina Torres and Patrick J. Adams both previously starred on the show, as well as Meghan Markle, who left her role of Rachel Zane in order to marry Prince Harry last year.

Though the show will be be ending this coming season, it won’t be the last fans have seen of the Suits universe.
Gina’s character Jessica Pearson will be the focus of the upcoming Suits spin-off, Pearson, which follows her new life in Chicago.
The show is set to premiere this year.

Series creator Aaron Korsh thanked all those involved for giving him a chance to share his story.
‘Though I know it isn’t true, it seems like only yesterday USA Network took a chance on an unestablished writer’s very first hour long script. These days that’s a common thing, but forty seven years ago when I first wrote the Untitled Korsh Project, nobody did it. Nobody except the people at USA and UCP,’ he said.
From the Suits team to his family, Aaron had glowing praise for everyone who held make the show a success.
‘Last but never least, to the fans who have stuck with the SUITS family through thick and thin, through can-openers and flashbacks – thank you for always speaking your mind. Without you, I might start to think I’m getting the hang of this writing thing.’
