This Is a Very Emily Ratajkowski Way to Wear a Turtleneck

Emily Ratajkowski can turn just about anything—even a turtleneck—into a major fashion statement. Yesterday, the model and My Body author appeared in New York City to attend Variety‘s 2022 Power of Women event, where she wore a monochrome outfit. The sexy, all-black look was centered on a traditionally unsexy garment: the turtleneck. Giving the piece a twist, the model went with a sleeveless netted piece that was largely see-through and featured fringe on the bottom.

Underneath, she wore a black bralette and low-rise pants with split hems. Accessories included cat-eye sunglasses from Oliver Peoples, a long rectangular clutch, and black sandals.

Earlier this week, EmRata attended the 2022 Met Gala, where she dug into the Versace archives for an explosive look. She wore a colorful beaded bodice and a dramatic high-low skirt, both of which featured gold accents throughout. The pieces were pulled from a 1992 collection from the Italian fashion house.

During an interview at the event, EmRata said that her outfit was last worn by supermodel Yasmeen Ghauri on a 1992 Versace runway. “I feel very lucky to be wearing this look,” Ratajkowski added.

The writer previously opened up about her style and relationship to fashion in a 2021 interview. “I feel like fashion can be a wonderful celebration of yourself,” she said. “Choosing what you want to wear on a given day is such an empowering, exciting feeling. I love playing dress-up and I think we should all remember that fashion shouldn’t be taken too seriously. It should be fun!”
