With ITV’s timely pledge to improve inclusion on and off screen with a Diversity Acceleration Plan, it’s believed veteran This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford is said to be fearful she could be up for the chop.

But an insider at the channel tells new! magazine her bosses are backing her, while hubby Eamonn Holmes is her biggest fan.

“It’s been a worrying few weeks for Ruth, but ITV has made it clear to her that she’s still a valued member of the family and that she has a place on our screens,” revealed our source.

“It’s been a huge relief to know the company is on her side, but equally Ruth understands how seriously ITV takes diversity and she fully supports the pledge.”

Despite ITV’s reassurance, talk of an “internal poll” to refresh the line-up of many daytime and primetime shows has the 60-year-old worried she could be ditched for younger stars such as This Morning regular Rochelle Humes, 31, and Strictly winner Ore Oduba, 34, who stood in for her and Eamonn while they took some time off back in July.

“I’m sure it’s made her feel insecure about her place as an older woman on TV,” our insider said.

“She knows people like Holly [Willoughby] are untouchable, but with younger ladies like Rochelle getting their chance to shine, I think Ruth feels like she’s being left behind. She wants to prove she’s worth keeping on air, but feels it’s difficult in the current climate and I believe the worry has affected her confidence.”

Luckily for Ruth, her husband Eamonn, 60, with whom she hosts the daytime show’s Friday slot as well as occasional holiday cover for Phillip Schofield and Holly, has given her a boost.

“Eamonn’s being lovely,” our mole added. “Despite their hilarious bickering on screen he’s being incredibly supportive. He doesn’t care who hears it, he’ll tell Ruth how beautiful she is and how talented she is and how much he loves working with her to give her a boost. It’s what Ruth needs right now – so any reassurance is gratefully received.”

You’ll always be our favourite, Ruth!
