Sir Tom Jones, 80, was married to Melinda Trenchard, known as “Lady Linda”, for nearly 60 years before she died after a battle with lung cancer in 2016. The singer’s extramarital affairs have been well-documented over the years.
Tom is said to have had an affair with late Supremes singer Mary Wilson in 1968, when he was touring in the US.
She previously addressed their romance and admitted that the Sex Bomb singer had “broken my heart”.
In the book Tom Jones: The Life by Sean Smith, the author writes that Linda grew tired of his infidelity and one notable moment had her checking for clues in his apartment.
According to the singer’s publicist Chris Hutchins, she confronted him about the situation and he initially blamed his assistant.
When Tom returned to the UK to perform at Bournemouth’s Winter Gardens, The Supremes singer reportedly flew over to see him.
Linda is said to have found out about Mary’s visit and went to “sort him out”.
Chris said in the book: “They got Mary out and then went around and removed every trace of her.
“Linda came in and said, ‘Where is that woman?’ and Tom said, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about’. And she said, ‘Mary Wilson, she’s been here’.”
The singer’s other half then checked the oven where she supposedly found a meal had been prepared the previous evening by Mary.
But Tom apparently didn’t come clean straight away about the affair and instead blamed his assistant.
It was at this point that Linda gave her husband an ultimatum and was in tears following Tom’s admission.
Chris added: “[Tom] told me the next day that they were lying there and they had just made love and Linda started crying.

The Voice UK coach met Linda as a teenager and they went on to marry in 1957.
The legendary singer has previously addressed his marriage and explained that they have always been “solid”.
Speaking of regrets, Tom said: “No, because I never hurt anybody, it never backfired on me and my marriage is solid.”
“Linda is an unbelievable woman. She’s the most important thing in my life. All the rest is fun and games,” he added to The Times in 2015.
Sir Tom’s wife died at the age of 75, just under a year before their 60th wedding anniversary.
The star was married to Linda for 59 years before she died after a battle with lung cancer in 2016.
