I’m a hairdresser and you’ve been using your dry shampoo all wrong – it’s the reason why your scalp always feels gross | The Sun

A BEAUTY expert has revealed the right way of applying dry shampoo – and it will banish that gross feeling on your scalp.

Dry shampoo is a godsend on days when you're running late or you're simply trying to give your hair a little breather.

But those who use it on a religious basis will be familiar with that heavy and gross feeling on your scalp after a few days of skipping shower.

According to one hair whizz, Matt Newman, there's a reason behind it – and it's all to do with how and where you spray the shampoo.

The pro, from the US, insisted that rather than applying the product directly onto your scalp, you should choose a different placement.

Sharing the trick on TikTok, Matt explained: ''Don't aim your dry shampoo at your scalp – it's not good for your skin.

''Instead, target just below the root,'' he said in the video, adding that this will minimise any nasty build-up in the scalp.

Once you've applied the product, give your hair a good shake and use your fingers to work it in.

Posted less than a day ago, the video has already taken the social media platform by storm, racking up over 230k views.

Dozens of TikTok fans flocked to comments, where many thanked Matt for his expert advice.
