A MASTER gardener has revealed the essential jobs you must get done this May, as well as revealing how to stop snails ruining your plants for good.
Gardening whizz Michael explained that now May is here, it is time to reseed your lawn, prune your lavender and give everything a good clean.
Posting on TikTok under the username @themediterraneangardener, the green-fingered man shared his advice for those looking to get their garden in tip-top shape this month.
He said: “Gardening jobs for May.
“If you didn’t prune your lavender at the end of summer you can do that now to stop it going leggy.
“If you’re going to reseed your lawn, do this by the end of the month and apply nitrogen-rich summer lawn feed to encourage leafy growth.

“As the weather warms up, it's a good time to give everything a good clean.
“You can plant out dahlia tubers and cannas after the risk of frost has passed and tie in the new shoots of climbing plants like clematis and wisteria.
“Apply liquid feed to tulips, daffodils for a good display next year.
“Plant out summer bedding and tender annuals like sunflowers and cosmos after the last frost.

“Harden off tender plants raised indoors, remembering to bring them back in at night.
“Reduce snail populations by going on regular hunts, especially during damp weather.”
At the end of the clip, Michael gave social media users a shock, as he appeared topless and joked: “And don’t forget, the first Saturday of May is naked gardening day!”
Michael shared his video just one day ago, but it has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly amassed a whopping 292,000 views.
It has 8,100 likes, 152 comments and 564 shares.
Social media users were grateful for Michael’s helpful advice, which many took to the comments to express.

Meanwhile, many TikTok users were eager to ask Michael for his tips and tricks.
One user asked: “Any tips to stop the snails having a buffet?” to which Michael claimed “Nematodes – that’ll sort them out.”
Whilst another questioned: “My garden is full of dandelions – how do I get rid?!” to which the gardening whizz advised “You could try a weed and seed or dig them out.”
