It was an exciting day for royal fans, as William and Kate announed their engagement at Buckingham Palace. All eyes were on Kate’s sapphire and diamond ring, an heirloom once belonging to Princess Diana.
However, many missed Kate’s other jewellery, which was paired peferectly with her ensemble and matched her ring and dress.
The tiny details pulled the look together, while making a tribute to Diana and even Princess Anne.
Kate wore jewellery by Elsa Peretti for Tiffany. She wore the “Colour by the Yard” collection, her earrings and necklace titles “Sapphires by the Yard”.
Kate’s gold necklace was set with an oval cabochon sapphire and two round diamonds in bezel settings.
Fans, however, would stuggle to get their hand on this pretty piece in this form as the Colours by the Yard collection has changed.
Now the settings are round, plus, a gold version does not seem to be available with sapphire.
A gold and emerald version costs £4,800 and a platinum and sapphire version costs £3,450.
Kate’s earrings featured another cabochon sapphire in each and a daimond.
While the engagement were the first outing for these gems, Kate did wear them again during her and William’s tour of Canada.

It’s clear sapphires were likely chosen to match the one in her engagament ring and the blue of her dress.
However, the style of the diamond has a clear link to Princess Anne.
The Queen’s only daughter is a big fan of cabochon sapphires. In fact, both of her two engagement rings have featured them as the central stone.
Much of Kate Middleton’s jewellery has a snentimental link to the Royal Family.
This includes a pair of earrings she has on “long term loan” from Queen Elizabeth II.
Kate has the Queen’s diamond and pearl earrings from her Silver Jubilee.
The earrings were first seen in 1977 for the celebration of HRH when the Queen herself wore them.
These pieces have been loaned to Kate, a future queen, and have been valued at £35,000.
While Kate wears the originals, the Queen commissioned a copycat pair for Meghan Markle to wear.
The Queen gave the replicas to Meghan ahead of their first and only royal outing as a duo.
The Queen also gave Kate Middleton the Diamond Quatrefoil Bracelet, which she has worn on a number of occasions.
The huge glittering diamond bracelet has emotional significance for Her Majesty as it belonged to the Queen Mother.
The Queen Mother wore the piece as of 1958, although it is not known if the bracelet was a gift to her or a piece she bought or commissioned for herself.
