Love Island in fresh fakery scandal as Iain Sterling reveals pro make-up artists and hair stylists doll up contestants

IT'S EASY TO forget that the Love Island contestants aren't all alone in their luxury South African villa – such are the lengths ITV goes to ensure all outsiders remain hidden off-camera.

But while we know that islanders are cooked for and have therapists on hand, Iain Stirling has dropped a bombshell by revealing that the girls get help dolling up.

Speaking to Vice, the hit ITV show's voiceover strongly indicated that the female contestants on the current winter version of the series aren't being left to their own devices when it comes to getting camera-ready.

The 31-year-old – who's girlfriend Laura Whitmore is hosting the show – said there is "more professional support with hair and beauty now.

"If you jump on ITVHub and watch the early series, by the end they all look quite scruffy – now they don't."

In series two, Kady McDermott revealed she only got her nails done once during her six weeks in the villa – but by series four, Dani Dyer baffled fans when her hair turned brunette overnight.

So those lingering shots of the girls applying make-up and curling their locks in the dressing room are less about them getting ready – and more an opportunity for them to gossip.

They also have help with their wardrobes too, and are sent clothes to wear during their time in the villa.

I Saw It First – who are the official fashion sponsor for Love Island – told Fabulous Digital last summer that the women have a "top secret" meeting at their offices ahead of going on the show so they can gauge their personal style.

The brand's PR manager James Apsley-Thompson explained: "We set up a fake showroom in London and it was all our current collection of swimwear, day wear, evening wear, accessories and shoes.

"One by one, the girls went through the collection with us and told us what they did and didn’t like.

"What trends they would wear what ones they wouldn’t. Just to get a sense of what their style is."

The e-tailer's stylists then assemble a package of items for the girls to take with them into the villa.

However, what they choose to wear at re-coupling or "getting to know" one another by the pool is all left up to them.
