Richard Madeley slams Meghan Markle's dad 'as a toerag' and says his behaviour is unforgivable

MEGHAN Markle’s dad Thomas has been slammed as being a “toerag” by Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley.

The presenter said on this morning’s show that the way former lighting director Thomas Markle has behaved since his daughter joined the royal family is unforgiveable.

The TV hosts were talking to royal experts in the wake of the news that Meghan and Prince Harry could relocate to Africa, about how the general opinion of Meghan constantly shifts.

Susanna Reid said: “There has been criticism in this programme it would be fair to say that she perhaps leaves people behind in her wake when she has moved on in her career.

“And there’s also that fracture in her family and the fact she no longer apparently speaks to her father.”

Richard cut in: “Do you blame her for not talking to her dad because I don’t? I think he’s an absolute toerag.”

Meghan is said to have frozen her former lighting director dad out of her life following him staging photos with the paparazzi and leaking a private letter she sent him.

Susanna revealed she thinks it is “terribly sad” that the relationship between Thomas Markle and Meghan has broken down.

She added she thinks Thomas made a “terrible error” in setting up staged paparazzi shots.

Richard added: “Errors plural. And everything else since, talking about her in great intimate detail. I think it’s the behaviour no father should be indulging.”

Royal biographer Hugo Vickers said: “I think it’s very sad actually. I think he’s rather a broken man” to which Richard replied: “He’s broken himself.”

Richard said if you compare the behaviour of Thomas and Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland, that the duchess’ mother hasn’t “put a foot wrong.”

Hugo said: “I couldn’t agree with you more, the mother has completely avoided every possible contact with the media.

“But at any rate, when she was a little girl the father was the one to take her onto the set of Married With Children, he turned his bathroom into a dark room for her, he drove her to the early auditions.

“It’s very sad actually. It’s slightly indicative of something slightly bad on one side or the other, if not both.

“If she could possibly reconcile with the father, because if he dies there will be more bad publicity.”

The panel were all united in hoping that the birth of Meghan’s baby – which is due any day now – will help to heal the relationship between the duchess and Thomas.

Hugo said: “I think they will be very excited when the baby is born I’m sure.”

The due date hasn’t been released by Kensington Palace, but it has been revealed that they will announce when the duchess has gone into labour.

The Sun’s royal correspondent Emily Andrews said: “She’s due this week so we are literally on standby. I’ll get an email from Buckingham Palace to say that she’s gone into labour.

“I doubt we are going to be told at the first contraction. I suspect we won’t get this email that she’s gone into labour until she’s quite well advanced.”

Hugo queried: “Do you think you’ll even be told that?”

Emily confirmed: “Yes, we are going to be told she’s in labour.”

The Duchess is reportedly "nesting" in her new home, Frogmore Cottage, surrounded by scented candles as she awaits the birth.

Buckingham Palace announced that Meghan and Harry will keep the birth of their first-born private until they have had an opportunity to celebrate as a family.

In a statement, the palace said: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby.

"Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private.

"The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family."

We shared how ‘Being Meghan Markled’ is the brutal new relationship trend where people are ruthlessly dumped when they are no longer needed.

Meghan Markle’s mum Doria Ragland has arrived in Britain sparking speculation royal baby is imminent.

And some royal fans think Meghan Markle is deliberately ‘holding’ in the royal baby to not offend Queen on her 93rd birthday.
