The Queen reads all her letters while sitting in her favourite chair & they’re kept in wicker basket next to it
Although palace staff help the Queen with her official correspondence, Her Majesty actually takes the time to read all her letters from the public – and she does so while sitting in her favourite armchairs at Buckingham Palace, Sandringham and Balmoral.
A royal source told Fabulous Digital: "The palace staff refer to letters from strangers are as ‘dead letters’ and they are brought to her in a wicker basket which is placed on a table in her sitting room next to her favourite chair.
"She goes through every letter – it may be a beautifully presented one, on lovely paper with calligraphy, or something scribbled on a page torn from a notebook."
Naturally, The Queen doesn't have the time to reply to every message – but there's a system in place to make sure they all receive a response.
