It felt like the Dyson Airwrap styler dominated TikTok this Christmas, as beauty fans showed off its blowdry-like results on the app.
The styler, which retails for a whopping £449.99 here, gets great results but does cost a pretty penny. So it’s understandable that beauty lovers whose budgets can’t stretch to several hundred pounds have been trying to seek out more affordable alternatives.
Case in point: one video that’s gone viral compares the pricey Dyson tool with a £35 alternative available on Amazon. In the clip creator Katie Arter uses both tools to compare the results of the original styler with a similar cheaper version.
“Always get compliments when I use it,” she said of the Dyson, adding, “Dries my hair very quickly”. Her only cons were the price tag and that the Airwrap could be a bit warmer – although she noted that this meant her hair doesn’t get as damaged as a result.
Moving on to test Amazon’s alternative offering, Katie noted that the cheaper tool was a “pretty decent affordable dupe”.
But while the results “looked similar”, she did find some cons with the cheaper of the two gadgets and says the curls don’t last as long.
“Attachments kept falling off & getting so hot I couldn’t hold them,” she wrote, adding, “Curls didn’t last as long (still lasted a while though).”
Fans were begging Katie to drop a link to the Amazon buy in the comments, but the closest match at the time of writing is the DingM Hair Blower 5 in 1 Styler, £39.99 here.
However, others were divided by the comparison, as one TikTok user commented, “Dyson is way better you can see.”
Another added, “I’d happily pay for the Dyson and know I’ve got a good product. I’d never buy a dupe.”
In other beauty dupe news, Aldi has just launched a £6 bargain alternative to Laura Mercier’s Honey Bath, which costs £43 here and is loved by the likes of Molly-Mae Hague.
The affordable beauty buy will be available to buy later this month, but eager savvy shoppers can get their hands on it by pre-ordering from the 23rd of January here.
We do love ourselves a good beauty bargain!
