Supermarket hours can vary over the Christmas period with reduced trading from Christmas Eve right through to New Year’s Day. December 26 is no different for many of the UK’s leading retailers with some opening for just a few hours and others closed entirely. These are the opening hours for Tesco, Asda and Morrisons this Boxing Day.

Will Tesco be open on Boxing Day?

Unlike many of the UK’s supermarket giants, Tesco stores will reopen their doors to customers on Boxing Day.

December 26 opening hours for this leading supermarket will be shorter than usual, although both Tesco Extra and Tesco Express stores will be open to the public.

Petrol stations run by Tesco will also be open for business again following their brief Christmas Day closure.

What time does Tesco open on Boxing Day?

Opening with reduced hours, Tesco’s trading hours will vary across the retailer’s superstores and Express branches.

While operating hours may vary for individual stores, most larger Tesco Extra shops are set to open from around 10am or 11am on Boxing Day.

Tesco superstores will stay open until 4pm-5pm, depending on the opening hour.

Smaller Express stores will open from around 9am with their doors not set to close until roughly 7pm on December 26.

Asda Boxing Day opening hours

There is no set list of Christmas opening hours for this supermarket giant, though several stores across the country have listed similar trading times.

Several Asda locations have listed 10am-4pm or 11am-5pm as their Boxing Day opening hours.

Shortened hours are expected to continue until December 27, with Asda stores set to open from 8am to 8pm.
